CASTING CALL
ABEL HAZARD. 40s-50s. Male. A Jewish scientist who, obsessed with his findings, conducts secret psychological experiments that test human behavioral response to making a choice. With a mesmerizing voice, and refined erudition, he conducts himself professionally. Yet there is a frightening disconnect between his ability to act professionally in the face of his experiments, which are gruesome and inhumane. His dedication to finding results never waivers, which leaves us questioning his conscience. Ultimately, his need to prove his legitimacy as a respectable scientist, trumps his ability to play innocent, and he admits to the MCS the horrifying details of each experiment. GUEST LEAD.
TED STODDARD. 30s-40s. Male. A well to do married man, whose happiness and sense of security abruptly ends when he and his wife are captured, drugged, and taken to a remote location in the middle of the night. The mastermind behind this abduction forces Ted to make a horrifying choice: save himself, or his wife. Choosing to save his own life over that of his wife’s, he is haunted by this decision. Confused and exasperated, Ted is set on helping the MCS find the man behind this experiment, but his disjointed memory of the event coupled with his own guilt, leaves him tortured and emotionally detached. MICHELLE EASTON. 30s. Female. An ambitious, cut and dry Deputy District Attorney who’s climbing the ladder to head the new Special Prosecutions Division. She deals with members of the MCS, and discourages them from re-opening a closed case that she prosecuted over a year prior. LINDA STODDARD. 30s. Female. Married and living on the Upper East Side, she enjoys the luxuries of wealth with her husband. Her frisky and playful behavior after a night on their boat, is abruptly interrupted when she and her husband are captured, drugged, and taken to a remote location. Strapped to a chair and fighting for her life, she shows bravery, even in the face of a horrifying choice her husband is forced to make: to take his own life, or hers. (2 scenes in the teaser).
RONNIE BLUMBERG. Female. Late 20s-Early 30s. Hooters-pretty. Bright, but not book smart. Accused of having shot her husband, she has been serving 12-to-15 years at Bayview Women’s Correctional Facility for over a year. When the MCS come to question her, she gives them details proving her innocence, and tearfully recalls her version of the incident. (1 scene)
JAMES HAZARD. Male. 50s. Should have a German accent. Archive footage of an aged and emotionally scarred survivor of World War II. When an interviewer asks him to share his story, for the purpose of keeping the history of the holocaust from vanishing, James must relive the horror in the re-telling of the incident when his father was forced to choose who should go: him, or his wife. TREVOR. 20s. Male. African-American. A basketball player who’s perfected his skills on the New York street courts. He challenges Nichols to a one-on-one, and revels in crushing him on the court. Should be a good basketball player. (2 scenes)
WINSLOW. Male. Late 20s. Hilbilly. Brooding inmate at Riker’s Island Correctional Facility, serving time for manslaughter. When questioned about how things have changed for him, he stands by his feeling that his actions were justified. (1 scene)
LAMONICA. Male. 50s. A boat launch operator who runs the marina. When members of the MCS investigate a crime that leads them to the marina, he provides details about the couple in question, and confirms their identities as boat owners. (1 scene)
BERNIE TOMCHECK. Male. 40s. A tax lawyer who turns down his client’s plea when he is asked to defend him in a murder case, and insists that he get a good criminal attorney instead. (1 scene)
EMPLOYEE. Male. 20s. An employee of the Simon Weisenthal Center, he grants members of the MCS access to the film archives. (1 scene)
INTERVIEWER. Male. 40s. Archive footage of an interview conducted with a survivor of World War II. This interviewer encourages the survivor to share his story, in an effort to keep the history of the holocaust from vanishing (1 scene)
CUSTODIAL WORKER. Male or Female. While working the early morning shift, this custodial worker is approached by a dazed and confused man in Central Park, and assuming him to be an escaped hospital patient, tries to get him help. (1 scene in teaser)
