Anyone else watching this? It just got an order for a complete season. I think that Mandy Patinkin is really good. Last night's episode, I thought it was really sweet where Gideon stopped off to kiss the crying baby on the forehead.

I am so loving this new series. I am glad they will at least have one season to prove their stuff. Interesting to me that besides Patinkin there is the Gibson guy also from Chicago Hope. They were great together then and also now

wow - I didn't even give it a change - just seemed too much of a rip off of CI for me to give it any respect. OK - so it is good? Should I watch it? What should I be expecting?

You could give it a try, if you have nothing else occupying your time on Wednesday nights at 9:00 (it's on CBS). I don't think that you will be wasting your time. I first tuned in for Mandy Patinkin ( My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die.) The FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit is led by Thomas Gibson. MP is their best profiler, Gideon. Other members of this FBI unit, like Shemar Moore, are experts in various fields. The team travels across the country, where they are needed. This week they went to San Diego to aid in the capture of a serial killer. You can 'see' Gideon's mind working. The first episode, "Extreme Aggressor", will be repeated on October 26th.

I caught the last new episode about the woman on death row and it was very compelling. Mandy Patinkin is a strong actor and can definitely carry this series. I like most of the supporting cast as well and think they all have a working chemistry similar to the characters on NCIS. This show has definitely improved in the last few episodes.
I keep reading about L&O being against Lost but I think Criminal Minds is probably going to be stronger competition for the original L&O when it moves to an earlier hour. I would never choose this show over L&O:CI or L&O:SVU as they are currently but I would consider watching it over the original L&O.

( My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die.) ;D ;D HAH!! Oh, thank you!!! I got a yellow parakeet on the birthday of a deceased friend and couldn't think of a name, so decided I'd name her after the "Princess Bride, since I loved the movie. At that time I couldn't remember her name. Imagine my dismay when I learned it was Princess Buttercup! I call the bird Lydia but every child in my life insists on calling her by her proper name. I do like some of the characters and psychological profiling in the show but don't make it a point to watch it. Some of the stories are pretty intense.

I'm a great admirer of Mandy Patinkin, but I don't like this show. It crosses a line in its use of violence and sex for me.
But, as I wrote, I do like Mr. Patinkin. I saw him in concert at Indiana University several years ago. He was very intense, very funny, very good, and he had done his homework about IU and its history. (It was a benefit concert, by the way.)
At the end of the show he very gracefully accepted an IU sweatshirt, and then said, "Ok, I know what most of you are waiting for." He struck the pose of a swordsman and said, "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."
The crowd went nuts.

OMG, Patcat, what a fantastic story!! Mandy Patinkin's great, and his role in The Princess Bride is second only (on my list of fave Patinkin roles) to seeing him on Broadway as George Seurat in Sunday in the Park with George. I'd have gone nuts too if he'd done that onstage! ;D I've never watched Crim Minds, for the same reason -- it sounded too much like a rip-off of CI. But I've been hearing good things about it lately, so I may have to check it out. But first, maybe I'll have to add The Princess Bride to my netflix list! It's been waaaaaay too long. (Who can forget this classic exchange: Wallace Shawn: No more rhymes now, and I mean it! Andre the Giant: Anybody want a peanut?) In fact, forget Patinkin -- it was definitely Andre the Giant's best work!!

For all of you who think this show is a rip off of CI did you catch last night's season finale...the resident geek on the show Dr. Reid (the one most like Goren) goes to visit his mother who is...ready for this...institutionalized because she is schizophrenic. It was the first time all season you found out about it and apparantly he writes to her all the time but never visits her. Don't know if they will make any other references to it next season, have to wait and see.

I've caught this show a few time's (it's only just started showing in the UK), my main problem is I keep expecting Mandy Patakin to burst into song as he did on Chicago Hope, either that or I'm irreversibly disturbed after seeing him as the bad guy in the Elmo movie... he sang in that too

I like this show, not my favorite though but I can watch it and enjoy it. What worries me is the fact that my taste is lately reduced to L&O:CI, L&O:SVU, CSI: LasVegas, CSI: Miami, CSI:NY, Criminal minds, Crossing Jordan, Cold case, Without a trace....too many killers and autopsies in my life. I should watch 7th heaven more often ;D. Now seriously, do you remember when the crime scene on tv was controlled by Jessica Fletcher and her little town? where peace is absolute if it wasn´t for the tiny detail of a murder every week (a criminal rate higher than Chicago's). In the 80's people would have freaked out watching a ME calculating the weight of a bloody liver with the body wide open or looking for sperm traces on the sheets. I like today shows. CSI: Cabbot Cove...I would definitely watch that! Anyway, I like Criminal minds, I think the scripts of the first episodes are a bit weak but that happens when you have to tell a story and at the same time introduce the characters. All the beginings are awkward but when the show gets experience the writers become risky and more interesting. Oh, and Iñigo Montoya is another nice spaniard

The schizophrenia connection might also be to Mandy Patinkin's character in CHICAGO HOPE, where his wife was schizophrenic and killed their child.

Any catch Keith Carradine as the serial killer a few weeks ago in the episode "North Mammon". He did creepy really well.
BTW, the episode shown after the Super Bowl on Sunday will be repeated tonight at 8:00, right before the second part. Poor Reid.
