Aw, poor Gary Maybe he should quit CSI and take Farina's job on the mothership, because I don't like that guy. I should probably go ahead and post this on the L&O thread.

didn't see it, but that critique made me chuckle, Observer. That's one I may catch drunk & make fun of while I watch it, eh? ;D That’s about all it’s good for! You know that rat? The one that took the really big bite and didn’t notice the bullet was in there, while still managing to mar the metal with its teeth? Well, it dies because the bullet gets lodged partway down its esophagus, and presses against the trachea, so the rat suffocates. Okay, if any rat took a bite that big, I could see that happening. So, where does the rat die? There inside the body, where it took the big bite? No. So maybe it crawls out, and dies in the alley beside the body? No. This rat, that’s suffocating from a bullet lodged in its throat, gets out of the body, covers some ground in the alley, gets into a building and up one floor, to its nesting area in the ceiling, before it dies. This writer really seems to believe that if you put clues at least two scenes apart, the viewers will never figure out that they are mutually exclusive. Either that, or the writer doesn’t have the brains to put the clues together, and doesn’t know how stupid the so called “plot” is. Pretty bad, either way. The third episode wasn’t bad. No glaring inconsistencies. I should probably watch it again. It may strike me as better than just okay, if I watch it without the negative expectations I had, coming to it after the first two. I’ll definitely keep watching for a while. The concept and actors give it the potential to be a good show. Unfortunately, the writers of the first two should get a day job. And the showrunner should wake up and get to work.

So, I watched last week's episode. A question came to mind while I was watching it. When the two leads were searching the sleepwalking lady's apartment, why didn't they bother turning the lights on, instead of going around the apartment with their two flashlights on? I presume they were in the apartment legally. Would turning the lights on have made things too simple?!

It's this pathetic "Dark" lighting on all CSI's and many other "dramas" It is my pet peeve - makes me PUKE.
How many lobbies, hallways, lounges, meeting rooms, exam rooms, garages "insert scene here" are that DARK as a norm? & if the power was out - who the hell is going to be doing work as normal? Rat-butts to them all; I don't need lighting so fake it is ridiculous to let me know that "they" want this to be a tense, serious scene. Damn them ALL!!!!!!

I found it a bit hard going with CSI: NY when it first showed on TV. I knew when I had to look up the characters on the internet, and make a conscious effort to remember who was who, that it wasn't exactly on par with the original, or even with CSI: Miami. On the other hand, I've really enjoyed watching Gary Sinise in something other than obscure sci-fi flicks. I think he was a great choice for the role of Mack Taylor, and his whole demeanor suits the show well. Let's face it, CSI: NY is a grittier installment in the CSI franchise than either of it's predecessors. The mothership CSI was all glitzy and flashy, with it being set in Las Vegas, and Miami was.... well, Caruso's show. I've tried to watch the NY installment with an open mind, and I've found it reasonably enjoyable. Sure, you have to be able to suspend belief to a degree, but isn't that what TV is all about? I, for one, don't want strict adherence to reality.

Two things I learned from watching US TV shows: (1) why use an overhead light when you can use a lamp. Show after show would have someone enter an empty house to find a lamp switched on, even when the occupant had been dead and buried for weeks. This, of course, isn't enough for torches/flashlights not to be used. (2) why waste time on the phone saying "bye" when you can just hang up. X-files was the first show i noticed this on, but have found it on many cop and legal shows. Mobile phones seem to have made this really salient.

I find CSI:NY hard to get into. Something about the characters doesn't draw me in. It's a good show though, but i can't get into it like CSI or CSI: Miami.
I guess Mac, Stella and the rest are just too ordinary. Sorry if I offended anyone.
