I know there's a few people here who post on the Universal board. It appears the board will be gone within a day or two. No notice, no warning, no nothing. DAMN.

Well - anyone who wants to discuss CI (not gush about Vincent) is welcome to come over here. It seems we have a typical summer slow down - so invite them over & we can re-hash some old episodes. I've left that board in disgust - so I think the keyword is "discuss" and as long as that is going on - I think everyone will feel welcome here. Too bad for anyone who really enjoys that board - I know what a kinda of support/or addictive thing a good board can be.
No reason at all? Just a banner annoucement - gone in 2 days?

The moderator at the Uni board posted something to the effect that when NBC and Universal merged, they began to analyze area where they could save money. A decision was made not to let the mod host the site any longer and have withdrawn support. The moderator added he believes the board might come back again in a different form but did not supply factual confirmation as to why he thinks this will happen or what format any new board will take if it comes back. He added that the shutdown will take place within two days, and that was that.

I'm rather disgusted by the lack of warning. Could they have at least given people a chance to make contacts?? Grrrrrrr!
It was not announced across the boards- It was put in a thread on the Kathy Levine board. A poster who visits that board a lot took it upon herself to tell everyone else. It was rather rotten not to make board wide annoucement. The SVU board is upset. They are tightly knit over there.

I don't really care that the universal board is closing but I do agree it sucks that the board managers over there so completely and entirely missed the point of the message board - that it's a community That whole board had a very arrogant flavour to it. I remember the frequent posting dumps that used to happenwhen, with out warning, they would delete months of interesting posts.
Anyhoo, anyone is welcome here but read the FAQ before you join - otherwise toes will get stepped on. HARD

Wow. Kind of shocking at first, but then again, new corporate management always seeks to cut corners wherever they can. I've not kept up with that board -- was a member way back when, but got fed up with it a long time ago. Still, it served a purpose, and I'm sorry to see it shut down.
I second all those who say displaced members are welcome here -- as long as everyone reads the FAQ. We're always ready for diverse opinions and in-depth discussions!

HARDThe only people who really seem upset about the closing is the SVU people and I don't see them joing here anytime soon so you all don't have to worry about stomping on toes hard. They are networking quickly and moving to another board. I hardly ever post there but it was amazing to see the reactions and the flurry of networking they done.

The Uni Board was my first stop in this "posting community" and opened a whole new form of communication to me. I enjoyed the Uni Board and wish there had been some notice before the closing. There were some good topics. To just drop everything was cold.
I use to check out all the boards that discussed LOCI. I liked seeing what everyone has to say. Each person has his or her own style, attitude, take on the shows and reasons for watching. And Lord knows, I didn't agree with everyone. It was relaxing for me. Sure some posters would go off on tangents and some seemed just plain weird, but I'm weird at times, too. I never felt the posters were arrogant. I will miss the Board.

I did visit the site but mainly to read. If NBC are now responsible for providing an alternative I hope they update the LOCI main site too, it's all looking a bit out of date. Has anyone else submitted this site to the fanfare page? I submit the link every time I visit.

I don't think NBC has updated that page in a long time, because the site listed on top hasn't been updated in years and they call it "amazingly complete." It has some good articles and wav files, but it looks like the owner just got bored with the show and forgot it. Since it's a geocities site, as long as it gets a few hits per month, they'll leave it up. Hardly a tribute, imo. The Universal site had also not been updated in over a year, and I think the only reason the board was still up was because we old Uni board people bombarded them with phone calls and emails to fix it the last time it suffered a major crash. I'm sorry for all the posters who will miss it, and I hope they managed to get email addys and other board links in time so they can keep in touch. For those that have migrated here, welcome As Sirenna suggested, it is a good idea to read the faq before posting. As to why NBC cut the site, they do have BB's set up for some of their other shows. It's possible that they'll be reworking the L&O pages to include them.

Yeah, but all the old threads are gone. I have copies of a few old threads from there, or parts of threads, but not many. I didn't know this was happening until it had already happened, or I might have copied more.
Nikki, there's a thread over there that needs your expert attention. It's called "Episode question" and the person is trying to find out the name of an episode that contains a particular scene in it. I vaguely remember the part of the scene she describes, but I can't put it together with the rest of a CI episode... TV has not been much on my mind recently, and I can’t even remember which title goes with which episode for half of the season we just finished.

Observer, I read the question and the first thing that came to my mind was it wasn't even a CI episode.
Someone else will have to help the person out. My mind hasn't been on TV much either. I haven't really watched anything in the last two months.

Observer2 and NikkiGreen, I went to the new site and read a question asking about the title of the CI episode in which the two detectives (Goren and Eames I assume) find a woman alive in a box under a bed. I'll have to dig through my tapes, but the episode that comes to mind is "Collective" which deals with a death obsessed cult. I seem to remember the perp (Dorian?) putting victims in coffins and was found out when he lift a fingerprint on a carbon dioxide canister (?) My memory of details is sketchy here.
