Hey Sirenna,
I'll trade your 23 cm of snow with the 23 cm of ice I had to scrape off my car tonight.

I think you've got us Hoosiers beat, but it's very cold on top of about 10 inches or so.
It's moment like this that remind me that Irving Berlin wrote "White Christmas" while he was in Los Angeles.

I shovelled but, sad to say, my 63 year old dad had me beat. He goes slow and steady which I'm too impatient to do. So today I'm feeling it.
Still it looks lovely out there. ;D
Merry Christmas, everyone!

I am happy to report that the lights and holly were put up with some time to spare. Not much left for me to do now but hang the stockings by the chimney with care. Do you think a giant plasma TV will fit in mine? Didn't think so.
Actually, I have all that I need and cherish and then some. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate the day. I wish peace and joy and a bountiful New Year to everyone. Enjoy the snow and whatever else lifts your spirits this time of year.

Merry Christmas, Peaceful Solstice, and happy snowtime for all (or happy summertime for the Australians and South Americans )! Take care, D.

Yes, I hope everybody got to have some good times with friends/family/etc. Despite the upper respiratory infection (good drugs, good drugs) I managed to sing in the Christmas concert Christmas Eve services at church, which was great even if I couldn't hear the other altos. Got back from the family gathering, my aunt and her fiancess have set a wedding date and were rounding up family roles, so everyone's excited about that.
White Christmas? I wish! Now, the day after Christmas Raleigh and the eastern parts got hammered, although my cousins had more ice than snow and my area got NADA! Oh well, at least it's cold with a heavy frost. Great days to curl up indoors with a good movie.
Take care all, Catbird

Christmas was white (read: foggy) presents were nice and festivities were mercifully short.
I'm not sure I'm ready for a new year though. For one thing, I don't want another year to go by while I'm still knitting this $#!%#! cable sweater. It's already been four. I suppose if I stopped putting it down and forgetting it for months on end it would help.
Did you hear about Jerry Orbach? I am amazingly sad to hear of the death of a man I have never met yet feel so close to.

I'm watching coverage of the Tsunami that hit South East Asia and, I have to say, CNN is such [\b] a loser news organization!
Has Canada ($40 million US) really surpassed the US ($35 million) in government relief assistance?!

According to CNN reports (the last one I watched was about an hour ago), Canada is donating $1M. That was at the beginning, when the extent of the devastation hadn't been fully known. The figure went up to $4M a few days ago. Another $36M was announced early yesterday. The number of people lost has reached over 114,000 now. Thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.
