Did you all know that besides being Share A Smile Day and Peanut Butter Lover's Day, today is also Pig Day? So, are we to refrain from having bacon today?

Don't much like pigs, except for Freddy the Pig.

Babe was pretty cute for a pig! Breathes there a pig with soul so dead Who never to himself has said: "This is my own, my native pen?" Whose heart has ne'er within him burned As home his trotters he has turned From wandering in the world of men? -from Freddy and the Bean Home News (The Collected Poems of Freddy the Pig)

[/i], today is also Pig Day? So, are we to refrain from having bacon today? [/quote] Oh, refrain from bacon. oops. PS. It being Pig Day, I did recognize a higher than average number of them around me today. Co-incidence, do you think? Or one of those Freudian slip thingies?

Nobody worrya bout me eating bacon, I don't trust the Caf meat. Pardon my ignance, but who's Freddy the Pig? Oh well, if anybody can spin a spider's web we'll start submitting adjectives.
Ordered my ticket today for "Beauty and the Beast" while I'm in NY. Concert Friday, flight Saturday. So I'm exctied about Carnegie Hall, even if break won't be very restful. I just wish I had one whole day to do something--I have half days and evenings, but I'll always be rushing back to rehearsal. Oh well, chalk up a to-do list for a second trip.
I am ready for break and NY and the end of "Casey". Sorry, I've been getting up way early this week to go to the theatre and watch Casey strike out. At least the 5th graders are enthusiastic, it's just tiring to have that from 8-12 and then in the afternoon make up tests and stuff. Tomorrow's the last day of the schoolmarm dress and hats that don't fit--at least until after break, when we perform in the stadium. At least we get the perk in the theatre of snacks and drinks provided by the local opera company--including Hot Now Krispy Kremes!!! Score!!!
You see how little it takes to make me happy. Unfortunately I should go study for an Archaeology exam. Later all, take care.

Freddy the Pig is the hero of a series of children's books by Walter R. Brooks. He engages in a variety of activities, including newspaper reporter and editor, and detective (complete with deerstalker and inverness cape). They're charming and funny stories.

The "Gates" project is in the process of being taken down. Gothamist.com has coverage.

Who paid for that large, rather odd display that wasn't left up very long? You would think they would have left it up say all spring & summer if they were going to go through all that trouble. I saw it on TV & it looked ok, but not spectacular.

I saw it as well, but I didn't quite "get it". Maybe I'm not artistically insightful enough...*laugh*
