We're taking another dip to the 60s and 50s this week. ARGH! Anyways, today was my last day of class, I basically have two reading days cause everything tomorrow was cancelled. Praise be, because Wednesday I'll be going nuts for our yearbook premiere, and my two big take-homes are due Thursday. Eeep!
But I was doing little happy dances today, because all my papers and stuff were given back. A- on the Asian Civ book review (I can live with that, considering I was worn slam out and didn't get the thing read til the day before), 95 on the "Malcom X" review and 98 on the Archaeology project I was so scared about. To paraphrase my accent, Sha-zay-am! Sorry, it takes little to get me excited.

Congrats on the high scores, Catbird! I'm very proud of you Sirenna, we also had hail yesterday. It was really quite a surprise, too. The moppets had just come home from school and were running around trying to catch them.

Hello people. I am still trying to catch up on the new episodes and everything, but just wanted to say hello, (well I guess I already did that). Nevermind. (Sorry that sounds like a sci-fi novel to me), but anyway many thanks to all of you that take an interest in what I consider to be the best show on telly, except of course all of the wonderful "reality shows", exactly whose "reality" is this anyway? Not mine and I am very thankful for that.
I am still enjoying the time with my grandmother and the wisdom she has accumulated over the years. I have begun to understand that what a lot of us consider as new is just something that we have not personally experienced before.
Well, before this becomes "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" I will sign off, but thanks again to all of you for your interest in LOCI.

I received this in an email a few days ago: 1. My mother taught me TO APPRECIATE A JOB WELL DONE. "If you're going to kill each other, do it outside. I just finished cleaning."
2. My mother taught me RELIGION. "You better pray that will come out of the carpet."
3. My mother taught me about TIME TRAVEL. "If you don't straighten up, I'm going to knock you into the middle of next week!"
4. My mother taught me LOGIC. "Because I said so, that's why."
5. My mother taught me MORE LOGIC. "If you fall out of that swing and break your neck, you're not going to the store with me."
6. My mother taught me FORESIGHT. "Make sure you wear clean underwear, in case you're in an accident."
7. My mother taught me IRONY. "Keep crying, and I'll give you something to cry about."
8. My mother taught me about the science of OSMOSIS. "Shut your mouth and eat your supper."
9. My mother taught me about CONTORTIONISM. "Will you look at that dirt on the back of your neck!"
10. My mother taught me about STAMINA. "You'll sit there until all that spinach is gone."
11. My mother taught me about WEATHER. "This room of yours looks as if a tornado went through it."
12. My mother taught me about HYPOCRISY. "If I told you once, I've told you a million times. Don't exaggerate!"
13. My mother taught me the CIRCLE OF LIFE. "I brought you into this world, and I can take you out."
14. My mother taught me about BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION. "Stop acting like your father!"
15. My mother taught me about ENVY. "There are millions of less fortunate children in this world who don't have wonderful parents like you do."
16. My mother taught me about ANTICIPATION. "Just wait until we get home."
17. My mother taught me about RECEIVING. "You are going to get it when you get home!"
18. My mother taught me MEDICAL SCIENCE. "If you don't stop crossing your eyes, they are going to freeze that way."
19. My mother taught me ESP. "Put your sweater on; don't you think I know when you are cold?"
20. My mother taught me HUMOR. "When that lawn mower cuts off your toes, don't come running to me."
21. My mother taught me HOW TO BECOME AN ADULT. "If you don't eat your vegetables, you'll never grow up."
22. My mother taught me GENETICS. "You're just like your father."
23. My mother taught me about my ROOTS. "Shut that door behind you. Do you think you were born in a barn?"
24. My mother taught me WISDOM. "When you get to be my age, you'll understand."
25. And my favorite: My mother taught me about JUSTICE. "One day you'll have kids, and I hope they turn out just like you!"[glow=red,2,300]Happy Mother's Day to Trisha and all of the other Mamas. [/glow]

Thats really cute Nikki.... #10 for me, except it was peas I was thinking: Summer is coming, and Super Cop Goren is going on vacation. Would anyone be interested in pulling out their dusty DVD’s from Season 1, and Starting with the 1st episode, and rehash those shows? Or Like Metella, had suggested in the Literature Thread, maybe reading a book together, or possibly a Sherlock Holmes Novel. I have seen several Sherlock Holmes movies through the years. But never read a book on Holmes. Maybe the 1st book written, or the best of the series? Just a suggestion, for those hot muggy nights that will be coming up soon, while we are hiding in our air conditioning

Yes, good idea, Cassie I have a set of Holmes that I haven't had time to read yet. I'd also love to go back over some of those season one episodes. Nikki, thanks for the smile. For me it was onions. I love them now, but really hated them when I was little. Hey Coth, I'm glad you're having fun with your grams. I wish my grandparents had lived long enough for me to get to know them. So, does she still watch CI with you?

Rehashing episodes would be fun, but I suggest we take the discussions to the episode discussions thread.

Nikkigreen-Thanks for that fun list. Its not until you become a mom that you can really appreicate the list. Then suddenly, you realize you are doing all the same things you swore you would never do and reality bites you right in the butt.
Happy Mother's Day to all it applies to.
Oh, we have sunshine. Its a new thing around here.

Nikki, as always thanks for that e-mail you shared. You seem to come up with the best stuff(sorry, didn't mean to use really technical terms). I would be interested in discussing the first season's epidodes and although I am not certain where the discussions should take place, I think with all the new people here (well, at least new to me), it might be interesting to start a new thread just for that. I am armed with all of the DVD's of Season One, so I might even be able to make some fairly coherent comments about them. Yes, I know that would be something new for me and my commentary. As far as reading the Sherlock Holmes stories and novels, "A Study In Scarlet" is the first story and might be a good place to start. "The Hound of the Baskervilles" is probably one of the best although many of the short stories or novelettes in "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes," and "The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes" are classics in their own right. Trisha, yes she still likes the show and says it is one of the few shows worth watching. I lost both of my parents at an early age, so having her memories of them is a real blessing. Okay Dom, Jonathan Livingston Coth, I may have to put you on my list By the way, I would strongly recommend purchasing a PDR, if anyone is interested I think I can give you a link. It is fascinating reading, and even contains case studies of different drugs. You can also get a subscription to a monthly update that is relatively inexpensive. Happy Mother's Day!!
