Ann Coulter would be an abomination in any age.

Insofar as my own feelings about the use of acronyms and abbreviations, I concur with no less an authority than Mr. Spock:"Too much of anything, even love, isn't necessarily a good thing."--from "The Trouble with Tribbles"
Actually, Techguy, it was Kirk who said that. Remember, he was frustrated with Uhura? (And you left out "Lieutenant" between "anything," and "even love".) I know, I know, anal retentive is hyphenated. I'm not big on the acronyms and such. I don't know, I don't mind the occassional shorthand, but I prefer not to write them myself. Same thing, only to a greater degree, with emoticons. I consider it my challenge to make myself write clearer, that I should be able to make myself be understood. I need all the help I can get. But I'm not trying to slam people who do, and I love watching the animated ones on the board, it's just my own little hang-up. I know people at school who, in their teasing of people who get carried away with Instant Messengers and such, would actually say out loud "double-you tee eff?". I was in the bookstore today, saw UO's books and audio CDs, and thought of you, Techguy. I refrained from gagging in public--besides, you'd hate for other poor innocent texts on the displays to get sprayed in the process. --Catbird

Yeah! Let's abolish anachronisms too Sarahlee. That way we wouldn't have to tolerate whacked out anomalies like Ann Coulter and her ilk any longer.
As for acronyms, I would not be in favor of letting them go altogether. Moderation is the operative word, as in use very sparingly. UO has to stay because NO WAY will I mention THAT WOMAN'S name. It's the same as an ancient curse, equivalent to crossing over to the Dark Side. I say, let the UO sleeping dog lie, and not create a disturbance in the Force.
Oh, Tech, I do love you so!! caseyswife

Thanks for catching it.

EGGSLAP: an acronym one of my sponsees and I made up to remember the "seven deadly sins" : envy, greed, gluttony, sloth, lust, anger, and pride. Just in case someone else needs to remember them.

Okay, so what is ETA? and I'm also curious what NUTS stands for, I know it has something to do with TPTB at NBC, just not exactly what. Thanks Jethro for digging this thread up.

Okay, so what is ETA? and I'm also curious what NUTS stands for. ETA = Edited To Add
I posted this on another thread, but here goes: Depending on how kind (or not) one chooses to be, NUTS = either NBC Universal Television Studios...OR...NBC Universal Television Screwups (or worse)
