Got "Hitman". I want my money back...... Me too, plus the appx. 20 mins I actually spent watching it before drifting off back into the internets. I am watching the 3rd season of Slings & Arrows right now and I love it so much it hurts. Why do all my favorite Canadian shows get canceled? Why, God? Why?

I bought VIVA PEDRO, a collection of Pedro Almodovar movies, from Matador to Talk to her, I love this guys movies, he comes up with these characters that are vaguely familiar, but way exaggerated. And seeing Antonio Banderas so young..... sigh

I enjoyed Roman De Gare. It was a nice mix of mystery and comedy. French subtitles. Here is the Netflix description:
In this thriller from Oscar-winning French director Claude Lelouch, a novelist (Fanny Ardant) suffering from writer's block, a ghostwriter, a serial killer and a recently dumped girlfriend find themselves caught up in a murder investigation. Time moves from past to present and back again and the lives of strangers intersect as author Judith Ralitzer is questioned by police about her involvement with a murder suspect. Dominique Pinon co-stars.

I love Almodovar! Have yoy seen Volver, with Penelope Cruz? It's in my to view pile, I'm trying to view them chronologically. I also love Guillermo del Toro, Pan's Labyrinth and The Devil's Spine and of course, Hellboy.

Does he always have a sexual and/or misogynistic theme?

Oh no... Almodovar really loves women.. not in a sexual way. He has great respect and admiration for all that is "Woman"." Volver" is an ode to 4 generations of women in the same family from a small village not too far from Madrid. It is a truly beautiful film. Sex is very minor. (Being where I am, I get a lot more exposure to him and interviews with him. He has a love hate relationship with the Catholic Church as seen in the movie before "Volver" ( "La Mauvaise Education" in French) In this one, there is sexual inuendo, transvestites and homosexuality... but no sex. It's not obscene, but harsher than "Volver" IMHO

I could appreciate him, but "Tie me up! Tie me down!" ticked me off.

The premise of Volver turned me off (morbid)--but I really came to appreciate it. It's basically a fable.

Perfume-The Story of a Murder, The thought of it was intriging, a man with an acute sense of smell ( sounds like anyone we know?) becomes determined to capture the scent of a woman, leads to him murdering them. It has Ben Whishaw who I have never seen before, but you feel sorry for him, it also stars Dustin Hoffman and Alan Rickman it got 3.6 stars out of 5 on Netflicks and with Hoffman and Rickman I thought I would give it a try, but in the end I was disappointed.
The First two Resident Evils played on TV and got me interested so I rented the last one in the trilogy, must say, I usually don't like flesh eating zombies, but I enjoyed this trilogy, just fast forward through those scenes.
Also If you haven't watched Perfect Stanger with Halley Berry and Bruce Willis, the ending is worth it.
Hide and Seek was good too, with Robert De Niro.
I still have the last of the Borne conspiracy to watch, Zodiac, No Country for old men, Spiderman 3, and Ratatouille

"Atonement" starring Keira Knightley, James McAvoy, and Vanessa Redgrave. It was slow in the middle, but worth the wait.

No movie could ever have reached that level of quality nor do the novel justice. I strongly recommend the book.. even after the movie. Suskind actually expresses the odors in words.. pure poetry. Words are often stronger and more effective than images. This is the case here. Read it and you'll see what I mean. I'm not a Spiderman fan. (I loved Batman as a kid). The Bourne series got too repetetive for me.. Ratatouille was splendid.. you forget it's a cartoon.

Just rented Wit with Emma Thompson. If there are any John Donne fans out there, you'll be in heaven. Emma Thompson is superb, but it is a heavy film.
