HAHA! I'm not harsh! I have very specific standards on how I vote in these polls. Even though I did like some things about this one, the stuff I hated outweighs what I did actually like. That's why I gave it a D. I f I ever dislike a show at all, it gets an automatic D. I nearly gave it an F but the humor and Logan's good behavior, LOL, changed my mind! hehehe Hey, I'm curious, how do you guys decide HOW to grade these? What is your main criteria? Am I too harsh in my criteria?? I *do* have very high standards! hehehe Generally, my criteria is: I never give an A+, ever. A is for no flaws, no errors that I can find. B is for errors or uneveness in the storyline. C is for ones that get no real reaction out of me (not good, not bad). D is for those that I *never ever* want to watch again. F is specially reserved for Nicole, LOL, or shows that make me seeth (No Exit). Sorry to the mods if I'm chattering I'm a place I shouldn't be!

If an episode gives me a strong emotional reaction which inspires me to do something or want to do something then I rate it high. My rating system is simple. If something gets me and I feel something, whether it be sadness, anger, etc., then I think it deserves a higher score. I also judge episodes against my previous favorite episode. Your rating system is more critical/rational but I wouldn't call your standards too high unless you've never felt an episode deserved anything higher than a B. Because things probably won't bet much better. This episode was an A/A+ for me.

I never give an A+ either, and I try to overlook the obvious plot holes. I tend to judge the episodes on the overall entertainment factor. And by God, with VDO, I'm usually entertained!!!

I try for a "holistic" approach to my grades--I'll forgive flaws and problems if other things work very well. So, in this case I gave the show an A in spite of the fact I thought there were some problems and because those problems were the result of the show reaching for more rather than playing it safe.

I think an a+ is a thing that should be rarely given; but to NEVER give an A+ ... that to me implies that your standards are too high IN SO FAR AS .... It truely is there, so that your entire grading scale should be bumped up one level. There is such thing as an A+ - that means that all points are there and done correctly or in full. To hold out an "I never give an A+" is kinda of abusive to me .... like, no matter what you do, it is never good enough. Just for general good will I think an A+ should be given to someone each year if you don't come across an A+ - then just decide to give the A+ by considering the compare and contrast method and give the best the A+. It is nice to give and nice to get.

I have no qualms about giving out high grades. I rate each episode according to its own merit. Did it accomplish what it set out to do? Did it hold my complete attention? Do I feel the need to rewatch it? Was it an hour well spent?... The more positives, the higher the grade.

I remember, after my first viewing of Probability, I had a feeling that there were some holes in the plot on picky logistical levels; but I remember thinking “I don’t care!” because I found the story and its portrayal so engaging. It’s still one of my favorite episodes. With that kind of logistical plot flaw, I would be torn between an A and an A+ for the episode, in spite of how much I enjoyed it. But for an episode that gives me that kind of full engagement and entertainment, and doesn’t have any significant plot flaws that I can see, even on a picky logistical level – that kind of episode gets an A+, because it does everything right *plus* excels far beyond the norm even for Criminal Intent. Guess what I gave this one...

I have only ever given an A+ once, and that was to The Posthumous Collection.

I tend to go with my gut reaction, but generally give it a day or two to settle. Like Nikki, I tend to judge each episode separately. Did the plot hold together? Did the characters capture my interest and attention? Did the psychology of the criminal's interior world make sense to me? Did I enjoy the ride? Those kinds of things... This one scored on all fronts for me -- hence, the A+. Which, I believe, is a first (and hopefully not last) for me!

Bump to vote for Episode of the Week. This has to be the most lopsided in results poll ever on this board.
