I voted B. Great acting by all. Good detecting (finally) by Goren. Did not like the opening music sequence. Also didn't buy the reasoning behind why the chauffeur arranged for the hit. Hiring someone to kill your bosses husband because you like her & she reminds you of your own mother's situation? Didn't ring true for me.

The B selection is one of my favorite lines.

"B"--best snark of the epi. The story itself I'm still thinking on...

Gave it a B could have been better, but it was a G/E episode.

Compared to the season so far, this one rates a B.

I thought this episode was very solid. But much to my surprise, it's actually polling lower than "Privelege." HUH?! I don't get it . . .

Wow, haven't been here for a while so I'm voting rather late. I gave it a B.
Case file was so-so but as mentioned before, it was a brand new Goren/Eames episode and I am so starved for those lately I'd watch them just sitting in their SUV for an hour. - Okay, so not really but you get the idea.

hmmmm, what would they talk about in the suv for a hour? Maybe about how much they'd rather be in a cherry-red Ferrari? I'd probably give an A+ to an episode that had Goren and Eames talking about their dream cars for an hour. They'd be good at it. As long as the showrunner made sure they got good background music. Seriously. This one gets a B- from me. For the most part I've liked the move to musical opening montages, but thought the music this time sucked. Ruined what could have been a very cool sequence. The mood of the action and the mood of the music just didn't work together. Instrumental electronica, maybe; tense and surreal at the same time -- just a thought. I liked seeing Eric Bogosian doing more. And I noticed that Ross was quite firm with Eames on the issue of not letting her admiration of the politico (can't remember her name) interfere with her job, so it's not like he's showing her favoritism. I suppose this is just me, but I thought the tech info about the weapon and its likely user was more interesting than the main storyline, which seemed pretty lackluster outside of a few scenes. If it hadn't been for the final scene, in which KE deftly portrayed Eames's disillusionment with the politician -- there goes the integrity of the potential first female mayor of NYC, right down the pipes -- I probably would have given a C. -- Oh yeah, plus a couple of scenes in which VDO did some fine work with the subtleties in what looks like his slowing mental status, and what also looked to be some involuntary or unconscious movements of his mouth. Good characterization can only go so far to redeem an otherwise ho-hum story.

I noticed how tough Ross was with Eames. Liked that, although I can't see Ross berating her like he did Goren outside the elevator doors during Masquerade. These scenes you mention of VDO showing Goren's slowing mental status, could you be specific, please? I noticed the mouth movements right away, but not that. You don't have to go crazy & replay the ep, just one example would be great!

DonnaJo, I've been straining my brain over your request to be more specific, but I just can't remember any scene-specific examples to give. They've been little things from every episode this season that made me wonder if I was maybe making too much of it, but from what's been said both last year and this year about Goren "going to some dark places" (iirc), I think they might be part of some early signs of a breakdown (or whatever) showing up in VDO's performance. Like, he'll be uncharacteristically uncertain here, and slow to pick up on a clue there. In Albatross, it seemed like he asked the politician's husband a question, and haltingly asked about the explanation for the guy's answer. But it wasn't in a Gorenesque "play the suspect" manner.
So, mostly this is just an impression I'm getting, and if I'm wrong about it, no big deal to me. I'm mainly waiting for what's going to go down in "Brother's Keeper" and subsequent episodes.
