After a couple more viewings, I have to say it was a solid A. Handling of the personal and the crime was better balanced. Perhaps I just don't like to see Goren losing it during an investigation. He didn't in this one, despite the apparent stress in his personal life. Watching him silently endure his mother's comments really made me want to just slap everyone in his family and yell at them to stop hurting the poor man.
Loved Tony Goldwyn as Frank and thought Tom Arnold did a great job. Rita Moreno was fabulous once again. And of course VDO and KE were their usual superb selves. Love what D'Onofrio and Erbe can do with just facial expressions and body language.
This was definitely one of my favorite episodes. Goren and Eames seem back on track and no histrionics involved in the personal side. The over emotional is understandable upon occasion but too much of it is annoying. Probably why I can't stand SVU.

A--VDO was memorable in his restrained anquish. Not an A+, because the murder was far less interesting than the subplot. Somebody somewhere else on this site mentioned that the mis-casting of Tom Arnold, and I heartily agree.

A -- Not a A+ because the crime needed more polish. I almost had to solve itself. I disagree about Tom Arnold, I thought he did an admiral job. Much better than I expected.
