Hi, I'm Rose... Either not enough...or not spunky enough. I miss the old feisty Carver who butted heads with Goren. I don't wanna see Vance wasted!

ITA. I love Carver. I think our many requests for more scenes with him have been taken into consideration, and we did just have that delicious bit in Shrink Wrapped, but considering the time constraints and the premise of the show, it will always The Goren Show. I guess I can live with that since I kind of like that Goren guy, too I don't think we are going to see the more ego driven Carver anymore. We haven't really seen him since The Pardoners Tale when Goren basically told him his actions were unethical. That shows some character development, and I wouldn't want to go back on that. I'd like to see continual growth in all the characters. Now, onto my more teenager-ish side... I love his wardrobe, especially the hats. I think he looks the most impressive (and handsome) in the black pinstripe suit and clean shaven. I'm not a fan of the mustache or the goatee.

I'm not sure any of my family swoon over Courtney B. Vance, but we like his stuff. You should hear us talk about his fashion sense: "Hey! Jonesy's stylin'! Look at that pimp hat!" (no, that's not me) Although I'm a sucker for a fedora, and I must admit he carries it off quite well...
It is nice that he and Goren aren't butting heads anymore, makes everything smoother. I would like to see more of him, but "SHrink-Wrapped" was nicely done so, when we gonna get to see more of Deakins?

Yeah, I like it when Carver gets good writing. And I like it when someone actually lets Deakins show up for work.
Jim Sterling seems to write Deakins well, and the upcoming episode, that I've seen listed somewhere as "Ill-Bred" may well be the story Sterling was working on when he was interviewed several months back. He said Balcer gave him a news story about a whole bunch of horses -- race horses, I think -- being killed, and told him to think of a reason why. "Ill-Bred" might easily be a title relating to that story. If it is a Sterling story, we may get some good writing for both Deakins and Carver -- he's one of the few who consistently gets something good in for all four regulars.

What did Carver do in Shrink Wrapped that you guys thought was intriguing? You mentioned his bit in the episode but not the scene. I agree they're giving Carver more lines but they're still not giving Vance much acting to do. He used to get angry, flirt, be stern, etc. Now his only emotion is calm and his only demeanor is polite. I think the fact that things are smoother now between Carver and Goren is part of the problem. I don't want to see them fighting like cats and dogs every single week, but everything nice and smooth between them every week is less interesting to me. Someone has to disagree with Goren once in awhile.

The scene I was referring to is where he gets to flaunt his prosecutorial skills in a courtroom setting. It's not that it was intriguing, though, just very exciting. I really like courtroom Carver, and we don't get to see much of him.

ITA - "Courtroom Carver" has a certain self confident flair to him, he is fun to watch/listen to. Not too many court room scenes & that is where the character of Carver really rules.

I find Carver very suave. Like Trisha, I love the way he dresses and that hat looks fantastic (Not many people could wear a hat like that and look great). Courtney Vance (and Jamey Sheridan) are such talented actors with very little opportunities to expand their characters. Wonder if either of them gets frustrated with the limited screen time given to their characters? Kate ;D

I often wonder that myself. Wouldn't them to bail out, especially not Courtney.

It seems that the screen time must have been known when they took the job, I have heard from many actors that they enjoy these types of roles as it allows them steady work and also the time to do other work projects. I haven't heard of any other projects from these two, though.
I still want one episode with really heavy Carver - Carver in trouble, or Carver needing a personal favor .... whatever.

I don't think I want to see Carver in trouble or needing a favor. It smells a little soapy. I really enjoy seeing him during the investigation and in the courtroom. A few episodes where he has a better understanding of what's going on and can help investigate the case by offering inside info would be nice. He could have helped a lot in The Semi-Professional, but Goren left him out.
There a lot to be said for and about Carver.
Maybe we need this thread in the general CI section or a new thread dedicated to Carver over there. I don't want to take over Vance's board with talk of Carver.
[ETA: Moved from Vance's board]-MM
