Yes Cassie, marvelous, marvelous job she did. I sympathized for her in a way. Hi Holly, I am assuming your having sympathy for Anna Nicole, or are you talking about Kristy Swanson? Would you like to share? I too feel for Anna Nicole. I was never a fan of her or her reality show. I saw a woman, who had an innocence, and people took advantage of it. She was easily led, sure she had a responsibility too. So did the ones who took advantage of her. I wish they didn't have Kristy Swanson look like the chunky chick, cause I feel that is a little insult to injury to the late Anna Nicole. She did lose a lot of weight before her death. ETA: I feel they made Anna Nicole's character more a "caricature" then a "real person" I feel for both of them. Fictional and nonfictional. They both lost so much, but were sweet in a way. They both wanted to sort of please people. I disagree that she was a bimbo and I think it would be hard for Logan to ask this women who has lost her son (and was clearly depressed) to give back his watch. She seemed pretty determined to keep it anyway. Also Logan was obviously caught off guard by the whole "your not gettin' this thing back" part. I don't want to use the word selfish. Maybe... Clingy? I need to watch it again. I think what really made the episode was Wheelers emotion at the end. Though, I really felt the crying unnecessary. Well... it wasn't exactly full throttle wailing, but all the same.

It was as bad as I thought it would be!
Usually I'm pretty sold out on the Logan episodes because I know they are straight to the point, factual and very efficient...they don't give as much to talk about as the Goren episode, but generally I get more...I don't want to say "entertained" but for lack of a better word, I'll go that one.
The intro of this episode was surprisingly well-done when compared to what we had seen in the past. I felt compelled to watch just by the way the actor played the son's part.
Then, everything went downhill. The Anna-Nicole Smith clone...was just that a clone. Bogdanovich played the Playboy honcho like the last time...like a parody of Return of the living dead
The line that bugged me the most was when the "pseudo-husband" said that she wasn't the "literary type". I think it was a missed opportunity to present Anna-Nicole Smith in a better light. Some of her diaries (probably put there by her infamous mother) showed a woman who was aware of what was going on around her and very candid about her status.
I think the sisters' scene was kinda stereotyped: old maid, stuck up rich women=tons of cats. Ah well, it gave us the infamous Logan look! I bet the cat was female! ;D

word, cassie. i felt like it was too soon to do this episode.
and i'm with you, techguy. i don't like the "ripped from the headlines" formula. but it makes me wonder. how does a show like "south park" get away with being topical? it never feels 'too soon' or 'stale' when they addrees current events.
i wonder if it's because CI lacks that extra level -- where the creators of the show watch the current events, think about it, then give it back to us in a way that makes us think about how and why we're interested in people like anna nicole smith.
i thnk the reason why topical stories work in other shows is that they include some element of biting satire. they don't just take a "ripped from the headlines" story and transfer it straight to their show. the audience craves commentary. and more than just the captain lamenting, why are people interested in this woman?
the whole CI show was almost like those cheesy sections in "20/20" where they dramatize a particular newstory while someone explains what's happening. only, the CI writers forgot to put the label "DRAMATIZATION" at the bottom of the screen.
sigh. sadly, i think the best part of this episode was the trailer for next week's meltdown from goren.

I wasn't able to view Bombshell until now. It was pretty good for what it was - a revamped E True Hollywood story of Anna Nicole.
Swanson was eery as Anna. And very convincing.
I thought Nicholson did a wonderful job throughout the episode. She really knows her stuff, all the knowledge about drugs and combinations of drugs was pretty impressive. It's obvious she delves into researching the cases, more so than Logan is. And her emotions at the end with the sister were very real. I wonder if her pregnancy helped her touch into that, a new formed maternal instinct?

It was as bad as I thought it would be! Thankfully, I'm not a Logan/Wheeler fan!

I really got a shock when I realized what this episode was about. Thankfully/Unfortunately they're still rerunning season 5 on free TV here in Germany and on pay TV it's an endless loop of seasons 1+2. But I agree: Even for my (not Amercan taste) it was way too early to make a TV-Show out of the ANS story (or even redundant). Though I am/was not particularly interested in her, her story is a sad if not tragic one. Watching the news Bogdanovich (?) said sth about it having half of the air-time, though she wasn't THAT famous. (sorry, I forgot his original words) My sentiments exactly. This was a human being with human feelings, who had lost her child. Leave her be, I'd say, and find sth else to write Crime Stories about. I think it was respectless and unnecessary; fishing for viewers who were craving for some sensational insights, maybe?

Chris Noth and Julianne Nicholson appear equally bored, tired, and very flat, almost as if someone had given them some very bad news and they were going through the motions just to go on with the show until hiatus. -Yes, I quite agree. I felt it the whole thing was quite boring. And easily predictable. I'm also sick of the new starting, in every new episode they have to have some sort of montage of the killing the only thing new is the music. It was nice the first few times but now it's just getting old. But it was good to hear Goldfrapp (even if it was a song from their least creative most mainstream album) - and not some old song. Peter Bogdanovich looks like he's been preserved in formaldehyde and let out of his jar for a few sleepwalking scenes, which is what he seemed to be doing anyway. - Ha ha ha! Hey, did he play the other Hugh Hefner rip off in that epi that one Bunny was killed for the black book? I hope this is the last "ripped-from-the-headlines" I see for a LONG time. - I doubt it. They seem to think it appeals to us, and yes it does quite honestly. But it is very annoying. I think after SVU's MJ rip off I got turned off on them. Also I think they rely too heavily on them (all the L&O's). OT for Techguy - I dont mean to offend you by this question, but I have to ask. I know it's all police-y but...The red text against the blue background is hard on the eyes. Would you consider changing it?

Would you consider changing it? No offense taken. The red text is not just police-y, it's my personal signature statement about me. It also makes it easy for me to quickly find my posts when scanning pages. I have a suggestion for making it easier on your eyes to read what I post. If you use your cursor to highlight the text, it will show up as white against the blue background. You won't have to "see red" if you don't want to.

Untitled, you also can go to Profile/Modify Profile and change the board "skin." Choose one and click Modify to see what it looks like. I changed to a black background because I found the blue difficult to take with any text (but especially with Techguy's signature red).

That is a great idea, I didn't know we had other skins to choose from. I'm going to do that right now!

Finally this episode has aired in Australia. I thought it was way too soon to deal with the whole Anna-Nicole mess and thought this episode was very odd, with a few entertaining elements, but not overall very satisfying. It did reinforce the general media representation of Anna-Nicole as a hopeless bimbo and total victim. Though the Hugh Heffnerish character was equally pathetic, had to fight the gag reflex when he started kissing the young honeys in front of the detectives.
Loved the beginning, when Wheeler called Logan's theory "existential". Not something he's been accused of too often, I would think! I'm very much with Ross, I can't figure out why these people are famous or idolised, they essentially do nothing. (Don't get me started on the Hilton creature). I guess the fascination for some is in the train wreck they make of their lives. Loved the line "The rich really ARE different" when he found out who fathered the child.
I thought the interaction between Logan and Lorelai was really done well. I can see how he'd feel unable to ask for his watch back. The sense of entitlement she had, and the tragedy she'd endured, made the situation awful. He really looked stunned and confused. The idea, too, that someone who had the money to buy anything she wanted, would just walk off with his watch, was a shock.
The scene with the cats was priceless. Cats always know those who don't like them, and always torment them accordingly. (I don't like cats - they can't stay away from me! They'll always come and sit with me even with a whole room full of other choices) Reminded me of Logan with the baby earlier this year where his basic instinct seemed to be to get the child as far away from him as possible. You could just see Logan restraining himself from shoving the cats off, getting up and running. The sisters were creepy, it's hard to think of the baby being raised by them.
I was surprised by the apartment that Lorelai lived in. Aside from the pictures of Lorelai on all the walls, it didn't seem particularly oppulent or over the top, rather a regular apartment. Budget considerations?
I totally didn't get why Wheeler was crying at the end. It's a bit late in the day to make her look inexperienced or overly emotional. If it was because she's a woman, and there was a baby involved, then that was a bit insulting. There was not even a hint of any other reason why she might cry at this scene, as opposed to any of the others. It was a really odd choice of how to put together that scene.
