The plot thickens further.
Per nbcumv news release today (Monday May 7):
"Endgame".......Monday May 14 @ 10:01PM ET and Tuesday May 15 @ 9:00PM ET
There's no explanation for the change, no indication if it's a two part episode or if the Tuesday airing is an encore presentation of the early original airing on Monday. Monday May 14, not so coincidentally, is the day for NBC's upfronts when the fall schedule will be announced.
Stay tuned.

The Futon Critic has some spin on this latest NBC scheduling news. Perhaps NBC wants to see how CI does on Monday nights with "Heroes" as lead-in?NBC CRASHES ITS OWN 'WEDDING' AS 'CRIMINAL' GETS MONDAY BOOST By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Weddings will be safer after tonight.
NBC is set to pull "The Real Wedding Crashers" after tonight's broadcast as "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" will take over the Monday, 10:00/9:00c slot for the final two weeks of the May sweeps period - May 14 and 21.
Said installments - "Endgame" and "Renewal" - will then encore in the show's regular Tuesday, 9:00/8:00c slot the following night.
The unexpected boost comes as NBC readies its 2007-08 schedule, which will be unveiled a week from today.
As for "Crashers," it's understood the show's remaining episodes will be broadcast this summer.
"Crashers'" most recent episode posted a third place 2.8 rating among adults 18-49 (according to preliminary Nielsen data) despite its first place lead-in "Heroes" (5.4 rating).

Oh, I think this is AWESOME news!!! ;D Putting CI after 'Heroes' is something I have been praying for all season - it is a perfect fit and is sure to boost ratings. I think it is a great indicator that they are going to renew - at least that is the way I am taking it!! THANK YOU NBC for finally doing something smart with this show!! Now take the next step and renew it!! caseyswife

I think this news should go in a separate category and people should be encouraged to watch it on Monday Night to boost the audience, all season long people have moaned and groan about they lousy leadin, now that it's getting the best we should support the heck out of the show.

Hmmm, what an interesting last minute development! My first thought was that they will have already decided what they're doing with CI by the time they double-air the finales. So I would guess they're either just using it to plug schedule holes like usual (I mean seriously, that wedding reality show can't be getting good ratings), OR it's a positive sign that they've perhaps decided to renew and want to see how the show might perform on Monday with a good lead-in. Either way, I'm just all excited to be seeing them a day earlier than expected

SarahIvy, this MeeVee piece supports your "hole plugging" theory.Bait N' Switch May 7th by Buzz Sugar
Apparently, Monday at 10 p.m. is NBC's Time Slot O' Death. NBC's latest attempt to get something going in the post-"Heroes" hour, "The Real Wedding Crashers," has crashed and burned, just like "The Black Donnellys" and "Studio 60" before it. Tonight's episode is still on the schedule, but NBC will air repeats of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" in its place for the rest of the season. USA Today is reporting that the three remaining "Crashers" episodes will air on Mondays at 8 sometime over the summer.
Frankly, I find it hard to believe that NBC hasn't been able to find a single show all season that can work after a hit as big as "Heroes." They already have a ton of viewers at that time of night; why can't they manage to keep them?

Bwaaaaa! This will be torture for me, do I stay up to watch and be very cranky and useless the next day? or do I tape it and watch when I get a chance? Why can't they show stuff before my 9:00pm bedtime?

I have a far colder reaction to this. It's NBC doing what it's always done to all of the L&O shows--using them to plug the schedule. It's one reason why the mothership and LOCI (apparently the audience can't get enough of the SVU histrionics) and the network are in such trouble.
NBC has been run by incompetents for so long that the network may not deserve good shows.

The only reason I have a dash of optimism about this odd schedule change is because they're showing the NEW episodes on Monday, not reruns. Whenever they've used CI to plug gaps in the past, they use recently aired reruns from the current season. What I hope is that since they are running the brand new finales after Heroes, BEFORE their normal airdate, NBC is actually trying to get an idea what sort of numbers it might draw in that slot. Which then, since the weather is lovely and I am in a good mood, leads me to suspect that they have already decided to renew, and are testing the waters for next season...I am ever the optimist

I don't think switching it to Mondays will help with NBC's decision to keep CI. Isn't the decision going to be announced earlier that day before the episode even airs?

Ragincajun, you are correct. NBC will announce its fall schedule earlier in the day on May 14, so CI's performance ratings-wise on Monday nights will not factor in the decision. It could very well be merely a move to plug holes in its already existing schedule in order to get the best ratings possible for two Mondays in May sweeps to determine its advertising rates for the time period.
Speaking of plugging holes--per nbcumv: Friday May 25 @ 9PM ET......."Tru Love"

I have no doubt the decision to keep or not keep LOCI and any other shows has already been made. Just because they're going to announce on the 14th doesn't mean they're going to wait until midnight of that day to finalize everything.
Hopefully by plugging it in at 10 p.m. on Monday and running it again on Tuesday in its current regular time slot NBC is hoping it will help it gain a few more viewers for next season??? At least that's my optimistic hope. I mean why else put that particular show on then? Why not SVU which gets more viewers anyway?
Then again NBC has been doing so many stupid things for so long now it could just be they picked LOCI at random to stick into that slot and I'm once again over-thinking the situation. LOL

Consider the logic here.
You're Jeff Zucker or Kevin Reilly. You've decided to cancel a show, not renew it for next season. Do you then use two brand new episodes of this show you have just cancelled & run them during the pivotal May sweeps in a prime time location? Does that make any sense to anyone?
Here's to hoping that these exec's have the same brand of logic that I do.
