I was checking something about Signs of Life when I ran across a site that had D’Onofrio listed as having had a guest role on the series “Life Goes On.” I searched for that specifically, and found a site that appears to be in German, that lists the episode title as The Basketball Player. Anyone know anything about this? Or have tapes of Life Goes On? www.what-a-character.com/cgi-bin/display.cgi?id=982802856List of TV appearances includes Life Goes On. www.djfl.de/entertainment/stars/v/vincent_donofrio.html1990: (TV-Serie: Life Goes On, Episode: The Basketball Player)

Interesting. I have two German friends who I will have reveiw that site and tell me. I've never heard of Life Goes on - at first I thought it was just the German's renaming Dying Young; they do that sooooo often. But it is listed on a different line.
Was this a german TV series? or a US one? Well, I'll find out all I can from my friends today. One is my lab partner, so I'm sure to chat with her today.

I remember that show. It was a US show about a girl whose boyfriend had hiv. It used the Beetles "Life Goes On" as its theme song, and the girl who starred in it went on to star in ER as Lucy.
That's all I can recall at the moment.

no go on one German friend; nothing is said about that on the site except the one line that lists it. She read it all for me.
She also confirmed that it is not a german TV series - but that has already been decided ..... so, back to the drawing board.

"Life Goes On" was a fabulous family drama starring Patti Lupone, Bill Smitrovich, Kelli Martin and Chris Burke as the Thatchers. CB (who has Downs Syndrome in real life) played Corky, a boy with Downs, who went to a "regular" school.
I did see a lot of episodes, but I don't recall too many details.

Thanks for checking on the German site, Metella. Life Goes On was an excellent series. The family it was centered on included the girl Trisha mentioned, and a young man with Down’s Syndrome. I believe it was the first time someone with a mental disability had ever had a lead role in a series. The series dealt well with his issues in a very straight-forward way, and helped a lot of people get over their discomfort around mentally disabled people. I don’t think the boyfriend with HIV was part of the original story line, but when they brought him in they did an equally good job with that situation, humanizing the issue and bringing it home in a way that really affected the audience. By the end of the series, that really was the main story line. Life Goes On, to me, is a bit like the television equivalent of an independent film, so I wouldn’t at all be surprised if he really did take a guest role in it. ETA: Good heavens, Nikki, you remember the names? That's a good deal more than I could do, after all this time! Though when I hear "Corky" that definately rings a bell.

The series was on from 1989 to 1993. ETA: Observer, I remember the names because of association with other roles. For instance, PL has played a great lawyer on L&O and CB was a angel with Downs on a great episode of Touched By An Angel.

Trisha, you reminded me... the main premise of Life Goes On is that it was about a boy with Down's Syndrome going through the rites of passage in his teen years. His sister had a boyfriend with HIV. She went on to star in the TV series Christie.
