I don't know if this is the right place for a thread like this, so moderators please advise and/or move it. For anyone who is in Washington DC, D'Onofrio will be attending the White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday 5/1, as per the Washington Post: www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A48254-2004Apr28.htmlDomenica

I might add that this dinner is usually broadcast by C-SPAN so check their schedule.

8-)There is some major back scratching at least that goes on. There's also usually several comedy bits by the correspondents and the politicians. Nancy Reagan generated a lot of good will for herself when she parodied herself at one of these.
It's not the sort of thing I'd expect Mr. D'Onofrio to attend, but maybe he's doing research?

I dunno--I remember reading an interview D'Onofrio did for "The Cell" (I think it was an online chat with SciFi), when they asked him whose brain he'd like to go into. He commented something along the lines of "and if I ever have trouble falling asleep, George W." Hmmm...
Ick, I despise politics. Is it bad I get my news from the Daily Show? I know, one more apathetic young American, but at least they cover the issues without all the sensationalism. And hey, smart humor is one of my biggest attractions.

Is it bad I get my news from the Daily Show? Catbird Nope. That's where I get most of mine, too! Or theonion.com. To be fair, I read the paper on Sundays, and I have to hear a lot of politics and crap from my professors. So, I'm informed... but I don't really get too involved. I only recently turned 18, so maybe after I've had the vote longer, I'll care more. hobo

For anyone with cable/satellite and interested in seeing this, C-Span 1 will be carrying this from 8:30 to 10:00 pm CST (9:30-11 pm on the East Coast) Saturday night and I believe it is airing live. I saw an ad for it today.

I watched, and made a copy if anyone is interested. D'Onofrio only had one moment where the camera was focused on him, and he popped up in a few other shots. The three best shots are posted on Criminal-Intent.us in D'Onofrio's photo's. Enjoy

You rock, master mind - thanks.
I saw him in four separate time/camera pans - one was just walking out the door.

Thanks, Mastermind, for the clips! I don't have cable so I have to live vicariously through the boards in these situations. D.

I didn't see VDO leaving, but I did see him sitting pretty close to Henry Kissenger. He took up the bottom left of the screen, but the shot was a bit blurry and just as it cleared, they put a caption over his face The dinner was just entertaining enough to be aired.... on C-SPAN. But, some of Jay Leno's jokes were pretty funny, and it's always entertaining to here the shrub make fun of himself. What was really interesting was that no one laughed when he said he was going to make some "dispaging remarks" about himself. Maybe they didn't know it was part of a joke, cuz you just never know what's gonna come sputtering out of his mouth.

I watched the first half hour, got frustrated, and switched to something else when the only celeb I recognized was Drew Barrymore. I did see Ralph Nader and some news people I recognized (but can't remember names). I did tape it though, so knowing others saw VDO will actually get me to watch the rest of it.

all together I saw 5 flashed of him on screen.
Someone on another board made a comment about his expression on his main close up & as I responded there on my thoughts on his expression, I thought I'd post it here also.
--------- Dubya was talking about reporters who had been killed when the camera panned to that expression - so I would assume that no matter what he thinks of the pres and the war now, that moment was one of sober reflection on other's death/sacrifice. I think he had just referred to a WWII death at that moment.
It was indeed the snooze-buttsmooch-fiesta I figured it would be.
Nader looked a bit ragged & old.

I’ve been off-line for a week or so, so I didn’t know about this or I would have taped it. I’ll check out the pictures next time I get to Kinko’s (my video card is failing, so pictures look pretty funky on this computer). It’s interesting to me that he accepted the invitation to this dinner. He’s never been shy about letting interviewers know his opinion of George W., but acting in a series doesn’t leave much time for political activism. I understand the Post’s other guest was Kerry’s brother, aparently a major player in Kerry’s campaign. I wonder if they talked much, and if D’Onofrio will be visibly active in politics this summer. Does anyone know if he’s got a movie scheduled for the hiatus?
So Nader was there, too, eh? Looking ragged and old. Part of me wants to say it’s no more than he deserves. He was an important figure to me for many years – almost a hero. I can’t really put into words how betrayed I felt by him – not so much by him running last time, because I understand the arguments for sacrificing a certain number of elections in the process of building a viable third party. I thought the timing was wrong, the process too immature; but a disagreement is not a betrayal. But he said it didn’t matter. He wasn’t calling for us to sacrifice the things that would be lost, weakened, repealed and destroyed under W., to say nothing of the additional human suffering. He simply dismissed it all, by saying it didn’t matter. He has so lost touch with what he once stood for that he could let the words come out of his mouth that it wouldn’t matter whether George W. or Gore won the election. He may even have lost touch with reality enough to believe that he is actually qualified to be President. Perhaps the appropriate response to him is pity, but I still feel a lot of anger whenever I see him.
