Loved Goren's look, If Stabler can dress down, why not Goren. Just my opinion. Good point, ragin. It doesn't make sense for Goren to continue dressing in professional business attire, when the other three lead Detectives are always so casual. Logan's usually in jeans. The girls.....you know. *sob* goodbye, tie clip.

--We got another fake L&O institution in the form of shipping company "DJL." Watch them ruin it by having something go DHL next time. You mean, just like they did with ULenz and Youtube. I have heard the Ulenz in several LOCI episodes, and yesterday, Roy's girlfriend says YouTube. Oops, I guess somebody make a mistake... I loved this episode though...

And, ya know, in Prisoner, I'm pretty sure when Eames and Goren are questioning the warden in his home about the wedding ring that was mailed to him, he pulls out a DHL package and says that it came in that. But oh well. Can't be too picky I guess.

The girls.....you know. *sob* goodbye, tie clip. I've never seen Logan in jeans, DonnaJo. Now Goren, on the other hand, has been wearing black jeans with his suit coats/dress shirts/ties since Blind Spot. Not a sport coat, which would look fine, but with a suit coat....not a good look, IMO. Honestly, I don't mind any of the detectives dressing casually...as long as they're not dressing like college students.

Are you sure about that, nwchimom? I could have sworn I've been seeing Logan in dark navy/black jeans I'll have to take your word for it, since I have no Logan episodes saved to verify. ;D It's true about Goren with the dark jeans & suit jacket last season in "Untethered." Not a good look. I do like this look, though. He looks hot!

I liked the episode. I liked the story, although it was not the best. I loved to see Bobby being contrite and trying to let Alex know he is willing to change to keep their partnership. He obviously gave a lot of thought to what she said in "Purgatory". She is teaching him the social skill of sharing...the limelight anyway. Personally I prefer to see Robert in the limelight all the time, but I do understand why he can't be. I like Robert any way he dresses. I liked the Diana Son interview. (Thanks, Patcat!) I like the way Robert felt for Ross, even though Ross has not been so understanding of him. (If it were me, I might've wanted to say rather cattily "Captain Ross, you are too close to this case. Do we really need to change the rules of investigation to suit you and your ex-girlfriend? If you think we do, maybe you need some psychiatric help.") I know, I know ... Ross is supposedly getting better with Robert, but I'd like to slug him sometimes. Robert would say that's primitive, and, of course, he would be right, but I'd still like to do it. But all and all, I only "liked" the episode, not loved it. I am not sure why. Not enough Robert, I guess. His having to step back a bit leaves me longing.
Can you tell I am a full-out Goren fan?

Jumping in late, I don't think there's much I could say which others haven't said more eloquently. Just a few notes...
(1) Loved Eric Roberts, particularly in the scene with Eames in the interrogation room. Loved how Eames/KE played him. (By the way, I don't think I'll ever look at ground round and filet mignon in quite the same way again after this...I like New York strip steak. What do you think that means in CI-speak? LOL)
(2) More Easter eggs from the writers! I took Eames' comment to Kathy about one significant other's resentment over the other's success--"I get that"--as a nod to the (all too) frequent comments on the discussion boards. In fact, I'm sure it was all Eames/KE could do to keep from adding "alot." ;D
(3) Loved how Goren tried to restrain himself but still couldn't help pushing Ross' buttons and how Eames once again had to play mediator/grown-up. (That's my role at work.)
(4) Totally agree with the comments about the gratuitous utility closet sex scene and blaring music. Enough already!

Well, I got lucky. I saw Betrayed.
Awkward, awkward, awkward! Oh, man, they all made me so uncomfortable for the first 10 minutes. They were so awkward with each other – just as it should be after the Purgatory blast and betrayal. It was perfect. It was almost like watching the first show of a series where the actors haven’t found their groove.
I think Goren’s attire reflected the “out of the groove” feeling. He’s been dressing like that for months while suspended and it’s a habit that’s hard to change, plus the fact that they came in late in the evening for their first scene. He probably can’t afford the drycleaning bill for all those very fine suits! Gotta love a man in a suit.
The out-of-the-groove feeling shows up in Goren stumbling over his words almost throughout the episode. He looked uncomfortable in his old surroundings, not moving with the old confidence through the office. Very nicely played. I think Eames took a bigger stick to him than was perhaps obvious – with wider repercussions. As the episode went on, the real Goren emerged as his gaze began to sharpen and focus. Oh, ya, kickstart that engine Bobby! Gotta love an intelligent man.
Eames ran the investigation for most of the show, at first as though he wasn’t there. Just as she’d been doing for 5 invisible months. She didn’t immediately hand over the reins to you-know-who. But as the epi went on, there were more of the exchanged glances we know so well signifying synchronicity between the two. Notice how the clerk brought Eames, not Goren, the fingerprint info on the licence plate as were perched on the desk (pretty darn close perching, I might add. She’s definitely not giving him the cold shoulder by this point)? Gotta love a woman who does what needs to be done.
Ack, Bullwinkle! What a huge waste of a great comment. Goren didn’t look surprised and Eames seemed to let it pass, although there may have been a fleeting smile there that wasn’t part of the interview. We’ll never know….
Rodgers was so professional. I wonder how much Ross confided in her or whether she had to get her info elsewhere. I would do my morph-to fly-on-the-wall for more info. Gotta love a professional woman in a time of stress.
The two “boys” jumped fast when they saw Roy bounce the table in front of Eames. But, of course, that’s the reaction they wanted and knew Eames could push his buttons. And she just did a splendid job! Loved how fast they moved. Bet they wouldn’t have if she was a guy. (Nice! I’d be verrrrryyyy happy to have them both close to back me up if I was sticking my neck out.) Gotta love a button-pusher at work – when they’re not pushing your buttons or someone you care about.
I thought Goren looked quite distressed about the Captain at the end. It shows how hypersensitive he is right now.
I think, all-in-all, (now don’t blast me here) the suspension and the Eames plain-speaking has done Bobby a world of good. Definitely a milestone in his life. It’s been a hugely tough lesson for him. I think the family angst is waaaayyy on the back burner right now and his whole being is focused on getting back to work and smoothing the relationship with Eames – and Ross, too.

Susan, I think those were unspoken words while Goren was doing one of his head hangs. It reminds me of Untethered when Ross made his comment to Eames about changing all the rules to suit one detective? Oh, I would have had a hard time biting my tongue.

If you watch Bobby's face through the episode, you can see the exact moment when he lets it show that he knows Kathy is not what she seems. It takes him awhile to speak up, but he knows it in his own mind pretty quickly. Yes, I'm Bobby-obssessed and I actually spent most of my second viewing watching his movements and facial expressions. There's one scene where we couldn't really see Alex's face, and I so wish we had! When they're at the gym and Bobby is playing with what looks like the stones they use for the massages. The girl at the desk asks him, "Could you not do that?" and he looks like a kid who got scolded. Alex has her head turned and is looking at him, but you can't really see her face. So, is she giving him the "Knock it off already!" look, or the "Okay, I get it. . .you're fidgety again. . ." look? Must morph into that fly on the wall thingy. . .

During one of those little head dips, you can see him trying not to roll his eyes. He's irritated because he knows Ross is blinded by his relationship to Kathy (former it may be, but she clearly still matters to him). It's clear in those moments that Bobby wants to say something else, but thinks better of it and lets it go.

I've never noticed it. Sweet!

Ya, OBC, we need to tell them to get more camera angles so we don't all have to turn into flies! I'm betting she was smiling inside - she delights in him doing that stuff and seeing how other react. I'm sure it's been something she's been missing and that's why her head was turned for so long.

I certainly could have missed some, though, and I don't have every episode saved.

I don't know if anybody noticed this or not: in the scene where Eames gets the missing persons report from Pink Blouse, she gives Goren this little tap on the shoulder before she shows him. Nice, subtle gesture that shows the partnership getting back into sync. I hope that makes some of us feel a little better I liked this more after yet another viewing.
