I don't mind Goren's stubble nor did I mind the longer hair. I don't think it's really a big deal. This is off topic but I'm going to mention it anyway. I have usually had very long hair all my life, waist length long, and was once told I should cut a foot off by an employer. I can pull m y hair back to wear it doesn't get in the way or is distracting to anyone and was taken aback by the comment. I asked why I should cut it and the reponse was because "You don't need to have hair that long. There was nothing in the papers I read when I hired that dicated I couldn't have long hair, and I said so. Of course that irked my boss who repeated I should cut it. Angered, I said I'm not cutting my hair off because you don't like it, I'll quit first! My boss glared at a me a long moment and said "Alright, if you feel that passionate about it, I'll allow it". I worked there for 3 years and no other mention was ever made about my damned hair length! It's still very long, even to this day.

I didn't mind the longish hair either in fact, I liked it... but just not for the character of Goren. As for the stubble, it's always been one of my fave things about him & its kind of a little trademark of his character. There's also something about it that's just hot LOL (sorry couldn't resist).

That cuckoo clock monolog makes me made. It is delivered very well, and I get the meaning, but for the love of my grandmother, the cuckoo clock stems from the Black Forest (Schwarzwald) and not from Switzerland (Schweiz). Graham Greene knew that, for sure, and I think that's the reason he disliked the monolog.

I wonder if "Five Minutes" will make it to premium cable since Sundance airs short films on a regular basis.
If any one sees anything about this movie showing up on cable, please post sometime.

IFC (the Independent Film Channel) also runs shorts so this is another possibility for "Five Minutes..." to show up.

First of all, it wasn't penned by him. Secondly, he surely did know that the cuckoo clock wasn't a Swiss invention…I don't know if he had other reasons, sorry.

That speech from The Third Man that supposedly inspired VDO's short ,the one about the Swiss and cuckoo clocks and peace.......didnt the Swiss give us Freud and Jung, and isnt that a huge achievement still reverberating, ironically, behind the insights of LOCI!!!!!!! When the outer world is quiet the inner world can run riot....maybe thats what happened, because the swiss history is uneventful they delved deeper into the interior world, and that had a huge effect worldwide. Doesn't hiding out the Nazis count as eventful? And what's so darn great about their bank accounts anyway?

If he fired you, anyway...

And as it seems everybody can deposit money there anonymously, even high-scale criminals...

[Couldn't that asshole have been sued for such a remark? If he fired you, anyway... I most certainly would have have tried to sue him. Whst kind of wacko employer tells a woman to cut her hair because it's "too long?"

NicoleMarie>> Thats weird, usually men love long hair mine is very short, (half way to my ear lobe) & very thick & curly. Men are always pestering me to let it grow, but when I do it looks like all the rats in the world are throwing a party in my hair, no matter how much I brush it. So now when they start heckling me about my hair length, I tell them to kiss my broad white a**. I'm glad that you told him off, he deserved it!

Kawaii, I never did figure out what his problem was. Maybe he was just pushing my buttons. I get alot of "Your hair is way too long" and I usually respond "It's my hair, not yours!" It makes a great weapon sometimes, I slapped my sister with my ponytail once.
