You're talking Ebay auctions, right? Can't do those (no checking account or credit card) but luckly borders.com carries it, perhaps they can have it delivered to the store?

You dont have to have a checking account or credit card to play on Ebay. I have neither of those and I buy tons of stuff from there, you just have to make sure the seller takes money orders, and most do. If its not mentioned in the auction, ask them if they will set up a special auction just for you, I've not had any problems what so ever. It takes a couple extra days cuz ya gotta mail instead of have it go through instantly, but I dont care. I love Ebay, I can find anything and everything tons cheaper than most stores. Especially car stuff.

The best way to do the ebaY thing is to go to the local mall, buy a Visa or Mastercard gift card, put whatever amount you want on it, (I think the minimum is usually $20) and then sign up for ebaY & PayPal with it -- works like a charm and does not compromise your bank accounts, personal financial information etc. They charge you a service fee of $2.50 but I sleep better at night knowing that once the balance on that thing is gone, that's all the damage that can be done.

That's smart, I would have never thought of that. Thanks for the idea, I'll be sure to do that next time I'm in the city.

Yeah thats an awesome idea !!! They always give me the option of getting one of those cards when I cash in my big ass bottle of change, but I never get it, perhaps next time I will consider it.

I especially like using these cards on people's websites who sell stuff and take PayPal / Visa / Mastercard, but I'm not so sure how good their website security is, so I don't want to use my ordinary credit card.
By the way these cards are way more popular in Europe than they are in the USA (probably because the companies here in the USA market them like they're gift cards you're supposed to use in the mall)

Through the generosity of a poster on this board, I finally viewed Naked Tango last evening. WOW! I had seen the European ending on The Reel, but somehow didn't expect the movie to be this "good." "Good" being how sexy VDO is, especially when dancing the Tango & smoldering with his deep penetrating stares & brooding expressions. The acting by all is definitely over the top, sort of campy. I can see how it could be somewhat of an indie tango cult classic. Or viewed as a bomb. I didn't understand why Vincent felt the need to talk like Clint Eastwood? Too raspy & deep. His own natural voice is so sensually soft, it would have been a better choice. All through the movie, I wondered why Vincent accepted this role? It's out of character, even for him. He must have needed the money at the time. It would be nice to imagine that he chose it for it's "artistic expression. I'm sure he's claimed that in interviews. But hey - sometimes an actor just has to eat, right? And there's nothing wrong with that. Definitely prefer the European ending over the wimpy USA one.

I found this a mess of a movie--heckuva an interesting one, though. D'Onofrio appears in a lot of messes of movies, but many of them are fascinating to watch. And he gives a stunning, gutwrenching performance that drips with sex and violence. He's also beautiful to watch, like some great sleek cat.

So how does the European version end? I can search The Reel's archives (if they keep them), or maybe it's on YouTube; but if anyone has a date or keywords besides Naked Tango, that would help. Or a short summary would be fine, if someone feels like giving one.
I wish the female lead had been more D'Onofrio's equal, for the benefit of the guys who watched this with their female partners. (Someone more like Sharon Stone comes to mind, although I'm not quite sure who would've been ideal — just wanted to see more fire and ice, and more pathos in the woman's performance.) — Well, the movie added some interesting art-house elements to classic film noir, so I stayed occupied with observing how this or that effect was achieved. But the main story, and the actors outside of VDO, didn't really provide a lot to get interested in, unless you're into forensic psychiatry.

So how does the European version end? I can search The Reel's archives (if they keep them)... a short summary would be fine, if someone feels like giving one. Dan, I MUST insist that you & Tessa go to The Reel, click on Film Clips, & watch the Naked Tango clip. It's mostly the European ending, although it has a bit more than that. Now, do what I say, young man. ;D It's SO different. A little summary, in case you decide to"tell me where to go" with my bossiness, is this: After Alba is shot, she begs Cholo to take her to the dance floor so she can dance one last Tango with him (she might actually say," I want to die in your arms"). He carries her there, and they do a few steps (he's sort of dragging her around). Then he actually breaks down & shows his love for her, kissing her on her rather bloody mouth. The next scene is the one where the cops break in & start shooting at him. He falls down with Alba. However, instead of them both laying down dead, he lifts up her dead body up by the waist in a dance move. The camera stays on that scene & fades to black. I can't understand why the US distributors didn't go with this ending? Check it out & give me your valuable opinion, please.

LOL, since you were nice enough to type up a summary for me, I guess I'll let you off the hook for your "nagging mom" remark. What you've described is intriguing, and Tessa will certainly want to see it. (I want to see it as well; but like you, she has fun pretending she's telling me what to do. *g*) I don't know that I'll be able to shed any light on why the US distributors gave us a different ending; I mean, who knows why any of the suits in the American entertainment industry do what they do? But if I have any thoughts, I'll get back to you on the topic. Thanks again for letting me know where to find the right film clip. Now, I need to go out and wait for the "black dirt" dude. (I'd like to know who invented this whole "work before pleasure" thing.) Oy, my aching back.

well how did the American one end? Since I wont' pay 200 bucks for the movie. I don't blame you. The American ending is very BLECH. It goes from the scene where Alba is shot by her husband and is laying on the ground with Cholo hovering over her immediately to the scene where the police shoot Cholo while he's carrying Alba's dead body over his shoulder. They both fall to the ground. The last scene is a camera shot taken over their two dead bodies, laying side by side of each other. No tango dance, no dying kiss, no bloody mouth, no last tango move.
