"Farina leaves its place to Milena Govich [31 / 05 / 06]
Definitely, the distribution of New York District (Law & Order) is in full change.
Indeed, after the confirmation of the departure of Annie Parisse (Alexandra Borgia), Dick Wolf comes to officialize the exit of Dennis Farina (Joe Fontana) and, at the same time, the identity of sound - or rather of its - substitute (E).
Eddie Green (Jesse L. Martin) will thus divide the poster of the police part of the series with Milena Govich, young actress a 29 year old that one could see in an episode the sixteenth season of the series (Flaw, the resolution of the last crossover in date with New York Unité Special) but which held especially one of the principal roles of Conviction, last production of Dick Wolf who was cancelled - after 13 episodes - at the beginning of the month…
One also remembers the young woman for his role of prostitute during the second season of Rescue Me, the chief of work of Denis Leary and Peter Tolan.
According to any probability, and contrary into that of Annie Parisse who was in the middle of the intrigue of the last episode of the season, the departure of Dennis Farina will be probably integrated in an elliptic way in the series…
I cannot prevent myself from noting that the two officialized departures most recently concern the two actors made in Law & Order. More precisely, Parisse and Farina are both arrived at the moment when the series gave up its place in the TOP5 of the audiences of series… With saying that there is a bond of cause for purpose, there is a step which I will not cross…
One can note in addition that the arrival of Milena Govich at the station of inspector constitutes a first for the series since, since 1990, no woman had never occupied this role…
Will this new feminization of the cast be as positive for the audience of the series as that imposed by NBC in 1993?
The question remains whole, unless current balance is not preserved by the hypothetical arrival of a man at the station of ADA what one did not see any more since the departure of Richard Brooks in… 1993…
Such a scenario appears nevertheless highly improbable since that would return to completely masculiniser the legal part… unless Sam Waterston (McCoy Jack) does not draw his reverence and itself is not replaced by a woman…
Assumption which, even if it has little chance to be carried out (would be only because Law & Order are already weakened and that the departure of the one of its principal historical pillars could be fatal for him), cannot be completely isolated after the ultimate episode of the season left our dear McCoy in a rather uncomfortable situation…
Me finally, the great interrogation especially remains to know if Law & Order will manage to be essential in its new box of Friday evening… In all objectivity, it should be conceded that this change appears much less absurd than that tried last March by NBC (cf here).
I am to even ask to me whether this new box would not be adapted finally perfectly to Law & Order… This evening is probably followed by a public appreciably older than the remainder of the week and no series really “with the mode” is diffused there…
In short, a priori, the conditions will be ideal for the institution of Dick Wolf… The more so as this one to prove with its season final that it was still capable of large thing by taking the best on CSI: NY (the Manhattan Experts)…
Let us cross the fingers so that reality joins the theory as of the re-entry…"
