Jeez - don't get her hopes up to get an autograph from someone she doesn't know and may be totally different from her idea ..... get someone in the local area to come by and chat with her on Saturday. Get her an ant farm Something useful and REAL.

Address, what address - I never got an address I have to agree with Metala on this one - I would hate to get her hopes up. How about a copy of a nice early work - like Mr. Wonderful - that's a nice little fantasy - and he's not a psycopathic killer or bug or a tortured, lonely, albiet, handsome in a peculiar way, detective. Simply a sweet, charming pharmacist that was WAY better looking and Matt Dillon. Oops, sorry, my bias is showing...

Both of those movies were great... I just saw Mr. Wonderful recently...and although Vincent probably has a total of less than 10 minutes screen time, he oozes so much sincerity and charisma that it seemed unbelievable to me that Annabella Sciorra's character would pick Matt Dillon over him... or so says I... Good Luck is another good movie... he did a marvelous job in that one as well. It's an uplifting if not upbeat story... though it might not be appropriate for your niece if she's very young of course... Katie, I hope whatever you choose cheers your niece immensely.... kissy

Honestly, I would not promise her anything. I know 1-2 people who wrote in early in the history of Criminal Intent and wrote very nice letters and received an autographed picture after a very long (3-6 month) wait. Now I have also heard of people who wrote to the NBC address over a year ago and have received nothing still. I think that since D'Onofrio's popularity has skyrocketed due to LOCI being shown in various countries, the fan mail has become overwhelming.
Feel free to write for it, and include a self-addressed stamped envelope with postage for Australia, but I wouldn't mention it to your niece. You might do better getting her a Law and Order shirt she could wear in hospital or maybe one of the DVD sets if she really likes to watch episodes.
I don't know how old your niece is, but THE RED SNEAKERS is a good young people's movie. GOOD LUCK has some cursing but is very good natured.
Best wishes for your niece's good health and return from the hospital,
D.

thank you all for such lovely Ideas and kind thoughts, your very sweet to take the time to help. I have bought and recorded everything on Vincent, bought off E/Bay mags/ ect, she just wants a Autograph/ pic, I might just take a punt and write to Ci addy and cross my fingers, that one says 70 days, but like you say he is very busy and I heard that he doesnt have anybody representing him In that area now. Oh life Is such a gamble I just feel i should at least give It a shot. My friend Is making some Vincent gifts for her thats nice. Ill let you know how It goes, have to give It a shot. love Katie

Also realize, just because you get an autograph doesn't mean D'Onofrio signed it - it may be a stamp that some intern does or even someone else just signing it.
but if he does, I just picture him with a stack & signing mindlessly - how can that be of value to someone? I just don't understand that - now, if one got it in person and D'Onofrio writes "to X" I could understant that. Wouln't want one myself, but I can certainly understand the value in that.

I know what your saying but for my neice Its real to her and thats all that matters. I was told that he goes In every 3 months and does this and only signs with a silver pen, by a site owner who knows the publisist for this, plus she made a beautiful gift for him and has pictures of him holding It, and 2 signed with her name on them from him. Which she has sent me the 2 of him with the gift Incase I dont succeed. the fact that he Is all over the place now with the eps (11 each) In the 5th season, does give doubt to It all, but I have to try and I will be mentioning why Im writing so I expect If he does answer he probobly will say something about my neice. He has a daughter, and we know how much he loves her. Katie

I couldn't imagine writing one to someone! How would I stand out? Make my letter special? I'm sure they read the same things over and over. "I love you", "You're so awesome" "I love your work". I would feel so foolish! LOL!! Well, maybe I'm just not a big enough fan of anyone to write a letter! It must take guts and a special people to write a fan letters! After all, without fans, where would the entertainment industry be? And we have to think of the handful of nice celebrities who actually answer the letters!! As for Vincent, I have seen autographed photos people have posted on their websites that people say he signed for them. Give it a shot!

Thanks NicholeMarie, I dont see why you couldnt write one, yes I agree all "I love you stuff" might get a smile, but why cant you tell him how much you like his work?? thats how you noticed him right? I think you should write a friendly letter asking for a autograph pic and tell him hes special, he cant resist that! Its not mushy or over the top. Its my neice Im writing for. Glad you got your letter off Erika Katie

when i want to write fan mail, i go to www.google.com & type in the name of the movie... show... whatever & i usually get pretty good results. On an unrelated subject, i have also heard (or read) that the stars of shows come on boards just like this one & see what veiwers have to say about them & their show.
