I watched this movie with my best friend Kim and both of us couldn't stop laughing at the fact that we wouldn't have dumped Sam. We kept giving Sam the benefit of the doubt... - So he thinks he's from the year 2470... (He's imaginative)
- Big deal he's afraid of little dogs... (little dogs suck)
- Is it really so strange to carry around pictures of people that came with the wallet?... (They are better looking than must family members)
- Dancing to Polka music can be fun....
My girlfriend and I are hopeless romantics. This is a must see movie for anyone who likes silly romantic comedies. Joanie

I agree that it's my favorite of the light comedies. There are deep issues in the movie, but I laughed a lot during this movie.
I thought Mystic Pizza was formula, but he was good. I liked Mr. Wonderful and MIB. Part of the reason this is my favorite light comedy is that it's the only one where I remember him as lead. My favorite overall part is Whole Wide World.
To expand on the previous comments about the dilemna of whether to date Sam or not, which was central to the movie.
We kept giving Sam the benefit of the doubt throughout the movie...
So he thinks he's from the year 2470... (He's imaginative, or the typical Star Wars/Star Trek groupie that I've dated in the past. Heck, if he let's me speak when Star Trek is on for the 200th time, he's a keeper! It's better than sports, in my opinion).
Big deal he's afraid of little dogs... (He should be afraid of little dogs. They are much smarter than big dogs, and can get big dogs to do very, very bad things for them. I had two rescue dogs and my little one is the one men should be afraid of).
Is it really so strange to carry around pictures of people that came with the wallet?... (They are better looking than must family members...and loads easier to deal with on major holidays).
Dancing to Polka music can be fun....especially if you dance like he does in the movie.

I've been meaning to take a few minutes to write about this movie ever since I joined the board, and I keep forgetting! Neither my husband nor myself are fans of the romantic comedy, it's just not our thing. But this is on our short list of movies we both just love and enjoy rewatching every now and then when we're in the mood for something that will just make us feel warm and happy. It really is just a perfect, quirky, and charming character study and it's a shame that so few people have seen it. We make a point of recommending it and showing it when we have overnight guests on the homestead. I think for me what makes me love it so dearly is that at the heart of it, it's really about being brave and open enough to accept and love people who don't fit society's mold. Different can be good, taking chances on people can be good...you just have to be bold enough to do it. I suppose a big part of why we both love it so much is we're both sort of odd ducks, and we relate a bit...though granted neither of us has Sam's particular quirk Everyone in the movie does a wonderful job, and it just has such a great feel to it. They really hit all the right notes, and it's such a complicated and odd story that it would have been very easy for it to go wrong. Oh, and the essential question...would I date Sam? Of course I would! I have a long history of being attracted to sweet, downright weird men, my husband should be grateful

Funny, I just rented it today. I nearly had a heart attack watching the romance (I'm sure a lot girls did too). Overall I like the movie, but the story line itself is kinda odd, and I got lost after the after 15 minutes. (Kinda displays my level of IQ doesn't it?)

"Happy Accident" was described to me as a "Sci-Fi-Comedy-Romance", so of course I bought it. ( It also didn't hurt that VDO starred in it.) It is now on my short list of favourites. The "Sam Deeds" character is a dream- sweet , smart, (w/o being superiour) sooo sexy, devoted. I am looking forward to more VDO movies on my list.

Like many of you this is on my shortlist of fav VDO films. I watched it again last night with someone who has never figured out why I'm so crazy about VDO's acting. And while she thought the movie was good, she still doesn't quite get it, but she said she understands why I do.... and now I'm left wondering what she meant by that... she can dis me all she wants - LOL!!!, but she better not have meant it as a dis towards my Vincent!!!

Just watched "H A" again...nobody ever explained time travel like THAT to me...(re:Diner scene, leg...) I wish someone would! I love that scene... LOL... I watched the audio commentary again last night with Brad Anderson and Vincent.... I'd forgotten that neither the hands nor the leg in that scene belonged to Vincent or Marisa. It was shot later, the hands belonged to one of the cameraman and I don't know who the leg belonged to.....

I bought it the other day on amazon and the first time I watched it I didn´t like it. It is not that i hated it but I hit the 'pause' button too many times to go to the fridge/bathroom/other channels and that´s a bad sign. I also hated the music and VDO's hair. I had a boyfriend that looked like him, a big guy and strange dancer, a totally weirdo. But then I gave it a second chance because it cost me money and I wanted to be sure that I wasn´t wasting it and the second time I loved it, and I loved the music!. I guess that the first time I was going through the monthly you know what and I´m in a huge man-hater mode while it happens. Lots of women are very sensitive during that time, I'm the opposite, I'm the kind of witch that thinks that nothing beats batteries. Then my senses go back to normal and I become a very romantic person. And then it is when I love movies like this one and I'm very happy because I bought it and I thank myself for being so smart. I will give it a special place, with the kind of movies I keep for the days when I think life stinks. I will keep it with Murder by death, Sliding Doors, The Goonies, One-two-three and Love Actually. I know it´s a weird selection but if they make me laugh or feel romantic, I welcome them. Yes, you read right, The Goonies, what can I say, I love it! P.S. Was it Cookie Caspari? only saw her a for a few seconds but I´m sure it was her (Charlotte Fielding). Do I watch this show too much to the point that I even remember a character's alias? Shame on me Oh, and that religious guy that killed the doctor, that one was there too.

I appreciated everyone's comments, especially Sarah Ivy's comments. I watched it when it was on VHS, and now I'm inspired to get the DVD through Netflix and listen to the commentary.
I don't usually like romantic comedies with Julia Roberts, Meg Ryan, Kate Hudson, et al. I did really enjoy Something's Gotta Give (but I've always secretly wanted to be a writer and love Diane Keaton). Years ago, I watched Crossing Delancy and 84 Charing Cross Road (Anne Bancroft, right?) over and over again. Crossing Delancy and HA had in common that the lead guy was very nice and sweet, but not the kind of guy the lead female saw herself with.
I really liked HA. For me, it was about how it's hard to know the truth and sometimes we get things right eventhough we're not sure. We just have faith, step outside our comfort zone, and it works. And, no one knows why. This movie had a very quirky way of addressing it, but I loved both the leads in this movie.
