Does this movie make sense to anyone? Don't get me wrong I liked it, I thought it was hilarious, but the storyline was a little out there.
[edited to fix title- MM]

It did for me only because I looked at the characters as basically white-trashy; ill-educated and base little things. They would never rise any higher, even if they didn't run into all that self-inflicted trouble because they were limited by their brain power.
Not really any likeable characters, but a really hilarious show - and it did get down to some real emotions; so I did find it believable for me.
Can you edit the title? or are we stuck with the misspelling? I don't think we can edit titles, can we?

I have to reference many of the states myself to make sure I get them right. No problem. Where are you from, England?

I made a list with all the movies I've seen from Vincent. There are movies I liked very much even if the movie would be without Vincent. There are movies I like, because I like the part Vincent is playing very much. "Feeling Minnesota" is on the list: "I don't like this movie at all, even Vincent AND Keanu are in it" ...

I discussed this movie with some-one, and she said that you have to "get it" in order to like it. Maybe she's right. I found the movie...weird. Yes, as previously mentioned, the main characters are white trash. On one hand, there's this realistic potrayal. The outdoor wedding, the homes, diners, hotels…I would also add the mother, smoking dreamily while listening to Johnny Cash to the realistic stuff. But then on the other hand, the surrealistic stuff. As surrealistic as the suit (Did I overhear somebody complimenting him ironically: Nice suit?) Sam is wearing on his wedding. It reaches the peak of surrealism when supposedly dead Freddie turns up again…only to end in a realistic scene…the showgirls, the bible-selling man's comment on the "love note"… Some elements are neither realistic nor surrealistic, they're just dark humor. For example, Sam complaining, that every time Jiacks turns up on a family event, all these weird things happen. Weird things? Indeed. Some moments are funny (or not) in a way I haven't had to describe yet. Like Freddie directing Jiacks into her orifice during their first love-making. O my…at least it's not about a boring family.

I watched the movie entirely but couldn't get into the movie. I love VDO's movies but this one was not his "style". It was funny but kinda "cold humor". Definitely not on my list of his best 10. The blue tux/suit was tooo funny.

I for one can't get enough of this movie...it is one of my all time favorites. If I had a VCR I'd be watching it right now.....just cause I read this thead and can't for the life of me figure out why one wouldn't like it! Let alone how one could be confused by it?!?! Hmmmm I must be the strange and unusual young lady a lot of my friends think I am......I always thought they were saying such things in jest. But well anywho Jjaks and Sam Clayton? I love 'em. And the chemistry between Keanu and Vincent was something special....."You kill your wife, frame me for her murder and your pissed a *me* for lying?"....that whole scene always leaves me feeling like the two actors improvised it...espesially when Sam feels the top of his head and turns to Jjaks to complain about it....
Ahhh I love this flick.

To me, this film was more interesting in the Sam/Jacks relationship, not the "love" (too twisted) between Freddie and Jacks. The brothers' rivalry/love/hate was right on. The best scenes were with VDO and Keanu. Keanu seems one dimensional in most of what I see him in, but he expanded a little with VDO.

With US Open Tennis preempting my VDO fix, I broke out this movie again just the other night. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy it. I think it gets better with repeated viewing. It's true that these are not particularly nice or good people and I'd hate to run into any of them in real life, but there are some very clever and believable scenes with Vincent and Keanu, that just have me cracking up. Seeing this in the theater years ago with a bunch of Keanu fans was really the first time I noticed Vincent D'onofrio!!! I'd seen other movies that he'd been in, but nothing clicked with me until this one. (I'd seen Adventures in Babysitting, Mystic Pizza, Dying Young, he just didn't click in my teenage brain then. What a fool I was in my youth. Thank goodness that was just a faze I've outgrown now!)
