In addition to Patcat's very excellent Episode of the Week discussions, I propose we choose a holiday themed movie to discuss in December. Lots of great suggestions were made in last year's thread for holiday movie favorites.
I'm opening this thread for suggestions from this year's interested participants. I'll leave this thread open until Wednesday November 12 after which I will post a poll thread from which to vote from the top 3 suggested movies. The voting will stay open until Friday November 21 when I will announce the winner. Discussion of the winning movie will begin December 1 and last throughout the month or until we've talked it out. EOTW will continue as usual whenever Patcat submits a new episode and can go on during the movie discussion time period.
OK then, what's YOUR favorite holiday movie?

I'm sure I won't be alone in mentioning the spooky, funny, whirlwind Dickenisian-pitch perfect nightmare "A Christmas Carol", in the classic Alastair Sim flavour. I might be the only one,. though, who wouldn't mind discussing "Die Hard" in the classic Alan Rickman flavour. Cultish, witty, savage and brilliantly cast/written/directed Christmas nightnare at Nakotomi Plaza

I'll third the first Die Hard. ;D How about the one mentioned by many on the thread linked by Techguy: A Christmas Carol, starring Mr. Sims? ETA: Thanks for taking on this thread and poll, Techguy.

Ooh, this is shaping up to a possible confrontation between the traditionalists and anarchists! Alastair Sims version of A Christmas Carol vs. Bruce Willis in Die Hard with a dark horse third contender thrown in the mix. We have until next Wednesday to determine the combatants, so keep the entries and suggestions coming in.

Since I mentioned both, I guess that makes me a traditional anarchist! ;D
ETA to the traditional list: (1) White Christmas and (2) The Bishop's Wife

In my wildest notions, I never thought a single soul would support me on Die Hard I. I am amazed that so many of the brightest and best here would like to advance such a gabfest. Such a discussion could prove yeasty, TechGuy. Your thread, and your call

May I add to the list for consideration, Tim Burton 'A Nightmare Before Christmas'? The movie is a feast for the eyes, ears and imagination.

It's A Wonderful LifeRudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer How The Grinch Stole Christmas (Boris Karlof) A Christmas Story (It's my brother's fault I had to watch this one all day one Christmas Eve! It's a TBS tradition, apparently!) Elf (one word: HILARIOUS!) Scrooged (Bill Murray's take on Dickens - FUNNY!)
