Copmared to Melina Kanakaredes' (CSI: New York) really tight, sometimes shoulder bearing, and cleavage bearing tops, Eames is VERY professionally dressed.

I just saw a season 2 episode tonight- Malignant. I don't know if it's the weight gain or what, but VDO seemed SOOOOO much healthier, and so he was so much more fun to watch. He literally jumped onto a wrestling mat, jumped onto pharmacy counter, ran through a drug store, etc. And it wasn't just that he was more physically active. He just seemed so much more energized- his skin looked brighter, his eyes clearer...... he seemed so much more WITH IT. I think this guy is really sick. This isn't a normal aging thing- it's only been what, 4-5 years? He seems to have aged 10 at least. I think there is a major medical problem going on here, or at least heavy medication use (which also can lead to bloat and weight gain). I don't care if he is fat or not (well, I'm not TOTALLY indifferant because I think he was pretty cute at his fighting weight, but ya know... not here nor there )... but I do wish that VDO had that energy again. I guess all I'm saying is- good wishes.

This may have been said before, but I'll mention it for people worried about "bloating". I'm tall, with a family history of a back problem known as stenosis and the more well known scoliosis (my spelling is horrible). I'm a former athlete who found out in my 30s that I have a tendancy to rupture discs unless I do lots of physical therapy, traction, yoga, you name it. It gets worse with stress and long hours of sitting. I changed jobs partially due to this issue.
Where am I going with this? I had to take oral steriods for a while and it was not pretty. I'm also usually described as having a high energy and it was a struggle to just go to work with the pain. I cut back on things I loved to do things that needed to get done. I didn't realize I was acting differently until about 6 months after my 2nd epidural and one of my co-workers said that I was "me again". The bloating, the tiredness, and ok I was just a LITTLE irritable... was noticed. It took a ton of situps and joining Weight Watchers to lose some (not yet all) of those pounds and then the beginning of I'm hitting 40 ones.
Lots of people have back pain. And, it tough when you need to work long hours. Even if it's not a glam job. But, there are a lot of people with tougher issues. It's just that the constant pain of back pain, TMJ (a friend has that), really tires you out if nothing else. Maybe that's the issue vs. aging, but it doesn't have to be dire. It can just be a real nuisance that has to be worked through like a professional.
Sorry about the tone of this comment. I think people are geniunely worried, but there may be a pretty simple and not very major reason. Divorce, long hours, back pain, vending machines, combined with getting older..is always an issue. It can also be alcohol or whatever, but that's none of my business until someone makes a statement. Wasn't there a bizarre rumor that I think I read here that he was upset about the presidential election? There are so many things and reasons. But, he is looking more energetic and I hadn't noticed until reading this board. So, thanks.

He's not divorced - maybe separated for a while (a couple of years) but back together this christmas.

Well regardless of when he may have reconciled (they may have been apart a short time, or maybe its a recent thing, not that I really care as long as theyre happy); I think he looks much better this season than in season 4 or 5 even if at a higher weight.

Yes I noticed in the Hard Evidence section for 'Privilege' that he seemed lethargic and a bit lumbering. Yet with the clothes, which I loved in this one, he looked good. The energy that glues me to the screen when his character is on is missing though.

Hi I'm new to this group and have been a fan of Mr. D'Onofrio's for a long while. I actually first saw him in Men In Black; thought he was hysterically funny and scary too. As to his health, didn't he have a problem with exhaustion problem that caused him to have fainting spells on set awhile back in 2004? I'm not certain exactly how long ago this was, but he was working on both CI and a couple of personal film projects at the time. This was what led to the exhaustion, fainting and a brief hospitalization; then the subsequent hiring of Chris Noth and Annabella Sciorra. It is harder to lose weight in your forties, it's not impossible, just takes longer and the determination to stick to a weight loss/exercise program. He seems a bit of a workaholic and pays more attention to his acting, rightly so, than an exercise regimen. He's still sexy as all get out, even when his character of Bobby Goren is down all you want to do is give him a hug and take care of the great big bear of guy he is! ;D

Welcome Jean.
It's so true about losing weight as you get older. I could drop five pounds in two days in my twenties. Now, in my late forties, it takes me at least two weeks & that's starving myself!
It looks as if VDO is getting slim again. He probably can't & shouldn't try to be as slim as he was in Seasons 2 and 3. I thought he looked good in Season 4. He was a bit heavier in the second half of the season, but I think that's a good weight for him now. Something he can stick to and keep.
