Cassie wrote: "he obviously wants his personal life to be personal. if some stuff leaks out...so be it. don't turn him into a britney spears-type celebrity where everyone's huffing and hawing and complaining about their love lives, etc." I wouldn't mind if Vincent pulled a Britney Spears in regards to not having any underwear on while wearing a kilt for a role and showing us all his goodies. Now I'm sure unlike Ms. Spears that would be something special to see. ;D Now I'm just kidding around folks and mean no disrespect to any of Mr. D'Onofrio's significant others.

I appreciate and enjoy Internet sites for factual information, but I'm not one to put much stock in gossip and rumors. I don't know--and don't care--if Vincent D'Onofrio is married or not. I only care about the quality of his acting performances, on the small and big screen, and leave the rest alone.
Wherever this new "information" is coming from and why it's being "corrected" now is of no interest to me. If Mr. D'Onofrio has been misleading obsessive fans or paparazzi with confusing or contradictory information to protect his family's privacy, more power to him. And sure, it would be nice if he had a publicist and/or set up a website to communicate information to fans, but he hasn't done it--and doesn't have to. I prefer to let the details of Mr. D'Onofrio's or any other celebrity's private life remain just that--private.

I think this is getting a bit out of hand. LOL
Who knows if he indeed said anything to anyone at all? At least from what I read. He hasn't officially said anything and I doubt that he would want to. It sounded like someone asked a question of someone who knows him and got an answer they're saying is official.
VDO seems to be very "un-celebrity" like, which is part of his appeal to me because I can't stand all those people with publicists who keep making statements like "we are officially separated" or whatever else they feel a need to broadcast to the world.
Of course it has it downsides because now we've got people all mad at him for something he may or may not have said! LOL
However, in the long run, I think to preserve his own privacy and something that really is just between him and his wife or ex-wife or estranged wife or whatever the heck she is, it's better to not have a publicist making statements about his personal life or an official website for people to ogle over him and his family at. It's quite refreshing to me that he isn't one of those attention craving stars who seem to feel they need to inform us about everything in his life because really it's none of our business.
How anyone thought this blurb was him making an official statement is beyond me.

Publicity is publicity.
Maybe it doesn't come from Mr D'Onofrio personally, but someone (who seems to have connection with the family) is going to extreme length getting this thing out in the public and having the fans talking about it...
And it's working. Even if we do or do not care about it...we are talking aren't we? So this alleged person has reached his or her goal

Yeah!!, so why not open up an Official site, and give the release instead of using the back door all the time!
I dont care if he is married or divorce. I wish for him and everyone else in the world happiness.
and a thank you to the fans once a year would be nice, after all we do pay for his salary!
Instead we get jerked around, with 3rd party info... Chris Meloni, ok no one here likes Stabler....but he's another actor who has his own site, and talks and thanks the fans!

Siernna, I was quite cool with my last post. quite cool, just being me! Actually I had even asked my daughter before I posted my response if I sounded hostile. and her response to me was. "no mom, your being playful" But I believe strongly that a thank you from him to his fans could go a long way. and a requesting an official site does not make a fan obsessive.

No, requesting an official fan site does not make a fan obsessive. The point I was making is, while it would be cool for Mr. D'Onofrio to do so, he doesn't have to. And apparently he doesn't want to either or have any inclination to do so in the future.
What I consider obsessive is a compulsive need to know everything about what's really going on in Mr. D'Onofrio's or any other celebrity's personal life. Some things we'll never know for certain, but some people just can't or won't accept this and let it go.

and in the spirit of letting go, it's time for this thread to die. too much has been made of this "news" already.
