From the NBCUMV site. Isn't there something vaguely familiar about this storyline?
AL -------------------
LAW & ORDER THE DROWNED AND THE SAVED 06-03-2009 10:00PM
THE MURDER OF A CHARITY EXECUTIVE LEADS DETECTIVES ON A TRAIL OF POLITICAL INTRIGUE
The murder of a prominent charity executive leads Detectives Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Bernard (Anthony Anderson) down a twisted path of political intrigue. The detectives discover a connection between the murdered executive’s secretary, her ex-boyfriend and a top politician’s wife. The investigation takes a turn when claims of stalking and blackmail surface, revealing a secret desire for a newly vacated seat in the State Senate.

Will this Season 19 finale mark a critical turn in the New York County District Attorney race? New publicity stills seem to imply that storyline. Thanks Annabelle. So.......Is Shalvoy's wife the politician's wife mentioned in the storyline? Now that would be interesting! I'm getting nervous about Jack's future after seeing those photos. The Governor doesn't look happy. Or.....perhaps Jack helps him (his wife is implicated) and he then decides to endorse Jack as DA? With Tom Everett Scott now a character on "Southland," I'm glad he was able to film another episode for the mothership as Governor NotSpitzer. It's a great role and he does it so well.

Don't forget -- the mothership Season 19 finale airs tonight (Wednesday, June 3, 2009) on NBC at 10 PM ET. Below, a review. AL --------------------- 'Law & Order' finale is a fight over the real McCoyBy David Hinckley The New York Daily NewsJune 2, 2009 'Law & Order' has one more crime to solve before they continue for a 20th season. Excerpt: "Tomorrow night's season finale of "Law & Order" is, as usual, ripped from the headlines - only this time, some of those headlines seem to be about "Law & Order" and its own well-publicized fight to survive for a 20th season. The result, subtly titled "The Drowned and the Saved," feels at times self-indulgent. The drama itself, by "L&O" standards, gets a little heavy-handed and clunky. But after 19 seasons, what the heck, creator Dick Wolf is entitled... ...Tomorrow's episode plays as if it were written and filmed during that waiting period, and at least two levels of the drama involve attempts to force a successful character out of a position in which he has performed well. The first target runs a large charity. When he declines to accept the retirement package routinely offered to everyone who turns 62, he is stabbed to death. No, the perpetrators don't turn out to be television network executives, although it wouldn't be totally surprising if there's some inside joke in there somewhere. A little too quickly and easily, Detectives Cyrus Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Kevin Bernard (Anthony Anderson) find evidence that tells District Attorney Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) the murder might have roots in the corrupt administration of Gov. Shalvoy. Shalvoy, played by Tom Everett Scott, will be most familiar to "L&O" fans from the episode last May when he got caught in an Eliot Spitzer-like hooker scandal. He survived, however, and now it's Jack McCoy fighting to hang on - locked in a reelection race that seems to be a dead heat. By the halfway point of this episode, the murder becomes almost a forgotten afterthought as the focus shifts to Jack McCoy's own fight against those who would evict him against his will. This plunges him into a high-stakes political chess match where whoever makes the first wrong move will probably end up curbside, wrapped for the trash collectors. All this unfolds too rapidly and neatly, which is not to say it's necessarily resolved. A couple of lines toward the end of the episode make it clear that Dick Wolf, er, Jack McCoy, considers survival to be a matter of ongoing vigilance. Which, we now know, will resume next fall."
