Hey Annabelleleigh, if you read this - was that your question that got answered? (The one to Kevin Zegers about working with Vincent)

At the screening, I heard VDO read a question "from Annabelle" and I sat up quick in my chair thinking of Annabelleleigh, but then he said "From... Nebraska" or "Oklahoma" or something. I thought Annabelleleigh was an East Coaster... Am I wrong?
Also, that 3 minute YouTube clip gives you a good idea of the whole thing. It was very laid back-- no startling insights. That Sophia Bush is darling and elegant and was trying to do good by the fans, wanting to answer questions and keep the ball rolling, while VDO and KZ were having a love fest with each other ("I loved working with you" "No, I LOVED working with YOU") that it got a little... eh. Glad they had fun with each other, though. Probably due to the wine they consumed beforehand.
I can't imagine anyone actually trying to compose transcripts of this Q & A what with all the giggling, "um"s and "uh"s.

Irene, since you appear to work in Manhattan and were able to attend the Q & A, can you tell us how close you were to VDO, KZ & SB? How I would have loved to have been there! The Brooklyn location is closer to my home on Long Island, but even that was a good 80 miles away. I can't imagine another Annabelle other than ours posing a question.

Right at the beginning (after Vincent got off the phone *LOL*) there was a question from an Annabelle from Rhode Island. I assumed that was "our" Annabelle. The question was directed at Kevin, and he was the one reading it, too.
And how exciting that you were there, Irene. I wish I would get a chance like this.

Yikes. Sorry. Don't know how I mixed up Rhode Island with the Midwest! Anyway, GO Annabelleleigh! So, if you don't mind my asking, Annabelleleigh, where's your home base? Are you my neighbor?
DonnaJo, I was at the Chelsea Screening (23rd @ Eighth Ave), and the cast was in a studio a few blocks away with only the video crew, a Cinedigm rep, and a producer in attendance. The party had been at Bottino, very close by, on Tenth Ave bet 24th/25th.
Cinedigm is the company that orchestrated what they are billing as the first live virtual Q & A, simulcast nationally to theaters in 17 cities around the country. Bud Mayo, the CEO of Cinedigm was there at the Chelsea Clearview and made opening announcements. (There were approx 25 minutes between the film and the Q & A). There were a number of production team members in the house, as well as minor cast members and at least two of the producers. They were simply engaging in the old practice of staking out the house-- observing the audience.
There was one glitch, though. In the time before the Q & A, the screen ran a still graphic encouraging the audience to "Text in your questions for the cast..." at a specific phone number. But audience members soon grumbled that their text messages were being returned due to an error-- that the number was a land line. Poor Mr. Mayo, I thought would have a stroke when we told him! Fortunately we all figured out that the correct phone number had been listed on the Facebook site and other places as well. Mr. Mayo was able to get the screen updated in the last couple of minutes. I think one person from our location had their question read.
It was an interesting experiment, somewhat successful in that it allowed more people to experience the event, however vicariously. The drawback is that without the energy and live feedback from the audience, the panelists (in this case, cast members) are essentially in a bubble. There was definitely a sense of detachment-- a disconnect-- on our side and I'll wager, on theirs as well.

Interesting comments Irene. I was also intrigued by this pr experiment; that was the main reason I wanted to participate.
I think the Q&A succeeded in that it brought publicity (at least in the trades) to a small film, and it generated viral excitement on the Internet. But I agree with Irene: it failed rather miserably as an event. The stunt promised an exciting, immediate connection between the film experience and actors and the viewing audience but because of the physical arrangement (and the lag time from the movie's end to the Q&A) there was none.
The "glitch" with the wrong phone number was not a small thing. It was an amateurish mistake.
I don't understand why the actors were sequestered from the live theater audience in New York. Technically it would have been quite easy to uplink from the Chelsea Clearview.
A better idea might have been to produce the entire event, live, for the Internet where there might have been global fan participation. However I do understand how increasingly difficult it is to get bodies into movie theaters, and from that perspective I understand why limits were placed on access and distribution.
Last, why haven't the producers exploited the Q&A more, post-event? Why was only a three-minute clip released?

They're looking into providing more of the Q&A (or so it says on Facebook, I think).
Anyway, I think it must have been a great experience, inspite of the glitches. I so wish I could've been there.

.... There was definitely a sense of detachment-- a disconnect-- on our side and I'll wager, on theirs as well. That sense of detachment was probably responsible for Mr. D'Onofrio's quip, "How do we know anyone is still out there? We could be talking to an empty theater..." (the quote may not be 100% accurate, but pretty darn close.) On The Narrows facebook page there is also speculation that the Q&A would be included on the eventual DVD release.
