From The National Ledger:SOMETHING ENTIRELY DIFFERENT: "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" star Vincent D'Onofrio is getting ready to direct a yet-untitled Western movie this summer -- and "Medium" actor Jake Weber is happy to report he's signed on to the project. "It's a fantastic script and a fantastic part -- a very tough Texan who comes in to help the sheriff with the growth of this town when the railroad goes through it. That's what I always did before 'Medium,' played heavies -- a lot of bad guys -- so it's kind of nice to get back to something with a little bite." Referring to his "Medium" role as the husband of Patricia Aquette's psychically endowed crime solver, he adds, "Not that Joe DuBois isn't fun to play. I like him. He's a kind soul."

Thanks Techguy. So.......is Vincent playing the Sheriff who Jake's character helps out? I'm assuming that VDO is acting as well as Directing this film, but I guess we don't know for sure. I hope this doesn't interfere too much with the season 8 summer filming schedule. As the Director, his role is very demanding & time consuming.

Even if he just directs this movie, sounds like he is going to have a busy summer. Wow, bet he has been scrambling dates for both LOCI and his Western. A very busy man, lots of time I am sure on an airplane ahead of him.

Thanks for this info, Techguy! I hope it all comes to fruition for Vincent. I also hope we get to see it, unlike "Five Minutes, Mr. Welles".
I bet VDO would make a great sheriff! I wonder if he would need another deputy or assistant of some kind - I don't know how to shoot a gun or ride a horse, but I'm sure I could find a way to be a help to him. Maybe I could run the office while he saved the town. Or polish his badge or his boots? Or dance with him at the town square dance?

Okay, Susan1212. no disrespect is meant to you:
1. You met him at the booksigning. I think polishing his boots is just greedy at this point. 2. You sound like a city girl (I hate the term gal). How many pairs of Wranglers do you own? Did you grow up riding horses every day after school? (assume not if you don't know how to shoot or ride)? Do you or your husband (who sounds very nice and supportive) have a truck with a gun rack? Have you ever been to a barn dance? If not, then please move over and let some of the midwesterners or even those pesky South Dakota types have their shot at this.
Thanks, NOC

This movie has been out there for quite sometime. There was talk about it in 2001 in this article : jam.canoe.ca/Movies/Artists/A/Allen_Tim/2001/12/28/756343.htmlHollywood producers and studios are still looking northward at Alberta as a home for their films ... Vincent D'Onofrio who stars in Law & Order: Criminal Intent and in the sci-fi thriller Impostor that opens Jan. 4 says he plans to produce several films next year for his company.
"I have a western called Mac Dog Williams that is well suited to shoot in Alberta," says D'Onofrio.
"It's set during the building of a railway. It's a western in the vein of Searchers and Tom Horn." Then, when Mr D'Onofrio suffered from exhaustion The Variety mentioned it again. With the addition that the Western was written in collaboration with Will Conroy (Five Minutes Mr Welles) www.variety.com/article/VR1117914004.html?categoryid=2&cs=1D'Onofrio hopes to take the film to Cannes. He wrote it with Will Conroy, with whom he's also writing a Western, "Mac Dog Williams." "Thumbsucker," in which he stars, is also headed to Cannes, he saysIt shows how long it takes to make a movie. And as for the boot shining if the movie's shot in Canada all US contenders are out!

I'm sorry, but meeting him only made my greed stronger. ;D He has that effect. And I am a city girl, but I love the country. Every year on vacation I travel out west or to the woods of Maine. Shouldn't that count for something? Besides, I could learn to ride a horse, buy a gun and a pickup, and find a barn dance to go to. And I would even wear Wrangler's for him. I wouldn't be willing to give up my job as deputy or assistant deputy or boot/badge shiner for anyone. Sorry, Ladies, but it's every woman for herself
