Solid A+. A fitting end to the season.

I gave this episode an A. While a very strong episode, there was something off with the pacing I felt. I think it's the music. By the end of it I was sick of the same soundtrack with the same beat being played and that annoyed me.
But other than that it was great.

I think this may be my first A for a Nichols episode.

Michael Chernuchin's story was brilliant. "Revolution" was more than a CI episode -- it was a history lesson. One extreme gives way to another. Fascism begets communism -- Nazi Germany leads to the birth of the Red Army Faction (aka the Baader-Meinhof gang). Citizen protesters become pawns of terrorists. In Germany, and here too. (The U.S. anti-war movement spawns the Weathermen and later, the Symbionese Liberation Army).
Marxism, Leninism, Che, Chairman Mao, the PLO (with whom the RAF trained), Al Qaeda, homegrown cults of blind hatred. Blow up a building in Oklahoma City; blow up a building in New York City. A stolen sausage roll, a stolen candy. A broken finger, the slaughter of millions -- an outrageous equivalency. And all of it intertwined, all of it somehow becoming the same in certain minds -- an infection of violence passing through the generations, feeding on both myths and reality, kept alive by the abuse of power and the greed of whatever ruling class.
And yet when the political becomes the personal, everything changes. Hypocrisy on one hand, love on the other.
I'll be deconstructing this episode for some time to come. It's that rich with subtext. A beautifully constructed, exquisitely layered script, too, with many remarkable lines.
My first A+.

I gave it an A.
Would have given it an A+ if Goren had been included. He was there in spirit but not the flesh. Too bad.
As a young person of the 60's, I do enjoy a good protest. It doesn't always lead to violence but it is a creative way to voice change.

Excellent comments AL. Your Symbionese Liberation Army reference reminded me of the Patty Hearst story from many years ago.
A+ all the way from me as well.

I've given this episode an A+.
It was like watching A History of Ideas - excellent writing and acting.

I gave it a C because I found it to be a watered down version of "Pilgrim."
Too cliched, gratuitous sex scene, annoying FBI agent, obligatory morgue scene, snarky comments in lieu of good dialogue...did I leave anything out?

H-m-m. I wonder if you'd mind expanding on how this episode was like PILGRIM. I see some of the similarities, but REVOLUTION felt very different to me, although at the moment I can't quite say why.
One relatively superficial thing I found different was that the FBI agent in REVOLUTION was actually helpful and decisive.

Too cliched, gratuitous sex scene, annoying FBI agent, obligatory morgue scene, snarky comments in lieu of good dialogue...did I leave anything out? I actually liked this FBI agent. She was a lot less annoying than the one in "Pilgrim." ;D It's OK Moonbeam...I have bad days too. I think if you get a chance to see this episode again, you might like it better. The second viewings always are more enjoyable, IMO.

I gave it a C, because she shouldn't have gotten shot. Damn those trigger happy swat teams or writers. Ok, you know me, I am a sucker for family reunions. She was about to give up! If anyone should have gotten shot it was her "Dad" or the man she thought was her dad.
