DJ--Are you defending Scientology, or arguing that just because something is associated with Scientology it isn't necessarily bad? 'Cause I have a serious problem with the first.

The latter, dearest Patcat. ;D
I know very little about Scientology. Just the silliness associated with Tom Cruise and the like. I wonder why celebs seem to be fans of this "faith?"

The LOCI episode CONTEXT deals with an organization not unlike Scientology, and is based on a case where Scientologists attempted to use some sort of methods to purge a young woman of her negative thoughts and wound up killing her. My view of it is very negative. It was founded by L. Ron Hubbard, a science fiction writer, and appears to be doublespeak and gobblygook. People who join are expected to make confessionals, and some of its critics argue that celebrities' confessions are used for blackmail purposes. It also targets celebrities.
Does anyone know if THE DESERET NEWS is affiliated with the Mormon church?

I too saw that web piece about the Mormon-Scientology-lesbian conspiracy to detox Utah cops through sweat, exercise, and vitamins -- how cutting edge and controversial! -- and just passed it by.
Five thousand per cop does seem pricey to me too, but my suspicions would have been raised much higher if the "Utah Meth Cop" cure had been revealed as pork ribs. Platters and platters of 'em. And lots of BBQ sauce. ;-)

P.S. The Deseret News was founded by Mormons shortly after Brigham Young led them into Utah. It's one of the American West's oldest newspapers.
Just about everything in that geographically gorgeous state is controlled by Mormons, PC. (That's not meant as a value judgment, just a fact.)

I fully understand your sentiments Annabelle as I, too, let so much pass me by. This particular article I found oddly intriguing - thank you for the extra piece of information.

Oh gosh, J-Fan -- I insulted you quite inadvertently. My apologies. I too thought about posting it the piece; it's that bizarre. (And I did read it and comment on it, didn't I?)

Not at all Annabelle and I certainly didn't interpret your post in that way. It didn't even cross my mind! In fact, I've never read any of your comments as offensive across the whole forum.
