Vincent D'Onofrio played one of the two battling rock stars in Sam Shepard's "Tooth of Crime (Second Dance)." It's a musical version of one of Shepard's earlier plays. Score was by T-Bone Burnett. The production had a short run Off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theater on Christopher Street in the West Village. It got fairly bad reviews. www.nytimes.com/1997/01/12/theater/sam-shepard-s-aim-wavers-in-a-replay-of-tooth-of-crime.html?scp=3&sq=&pagewanted=allVDO reportedly fainted during more than one performance. (I had a friend who was an usher.) So can he sing? I believe he thinks so. At least someone once hired him for a part that required singing. AL

The story that I heard was that Mr. D'Onofrio had the flu.

This sounds like it is going to be an awesome show! I wish I lived close and could go. What fun! I know that VDO and the musicians have had a great time putting this together. I wonder if this will be a one time thing or not? Is anyone from this board planning to go? I would love to hear about it.

Unless one is a "member" (i.e., season ticket holder) of The Public Theater getting a ticket to this relatively (for the complex) small restaurant-lounge is usually impossible. The event is already sold out. Photo credit: Unknown. Published by The Public Theater. AL

Well, I am glad to hear it is sold out -- it should be an interesting and fun evening for anyone going. Is anyone on this board going? Some of the commenters (is that a word?) on the Reel got tickets to go as soon as it was published on that site. I would like to hear how it is.

I was contemplating going, but it would be tough with work to get there on time. I'm strangely comforted by the fact that getting tickets would be unlikely anyway. Thanks Annabelle. Like wilmington fan mentioned, supposedly one or two members of The Reel claim to have gotten tickets. Probably the few that were available to non-members. Perhaps pictures will be posted, or even a you tube video of the event? I doubt the place would mind the publicity.

Apparently there are still tickets, and Hawk D`Onofrio will be there

The Reel has several photos from the event and they mention that Kate Erbe was in the audience. Its nice to know that no matter how the negotiations went with TPTB that they have remained friends.

The Reel (bless 'em) has a short video of Mr. Gerkie performing "It's Raining Men." Not my idea of a country song (g), but it...it's weird. I thought it was funny, but it's really, really weird.

On Elizabeth D'Onofrio's blog she has posted that her brother plans to bring Mr. Gerkie back out into public again in the near future, but nothing more specific.

I listened to the "raining men" song at the reel and it reminded me of a karaoke night at my local!

On Elizabeth D'Onofrio's blog she has posted that her brother plans to bring Mr. Gerkie back out into public again in the near future, but nothing more specific. In my opinion, once is enough. I don't understand why VDO is doing this, or what he hopes to achieve? Is it to give his buddies Cantrell and Bisbee work? Is that it - a venue for their music? I wish I knew why he chose "It's Raining Men" as a song for his act. Did he offer a reason before he started the song? Wouldn't he be concerned that he might offend some in the gay community?
