First, I'd like to say there are three articles in the press today about LOCI. Check them out at our blog: savinggorenandeamesnow.blogspot.com/The following is the Monday Hit list. Well, it's finally good to get some reliable news. I'm sure it's linked somewhere else, but here is the link to the radio interview: www.1019rxp.com/pinfield/Vincent does a pretty good sidestep on any details about what transpired behind closed doors. I really feel that if he had been finishing up Goren, he would have said so ages ago. Between the articles that have popped up in the last couple of days (while I was away!!) and this, I get madder at USA by the hour. Not only have they fired our beloved characters, they’re going to kill one off. They sure don't give a hoot about their fans. One way or another, the actors were forced out, whether it is over money or network creative directions (or lack thereof). Right now I feel like sending a case of Fluff in Kathryn Erbe's honour. If there is a chance that they'll kill Eames off.... *choke*

I concur, QFC.
I would add that I would like to deliver a tanker truck full of fluff to 30 Rock and have the NBCU/USA offices HOSED DOWN WITH IT!!!
They have a sense of humor there, no?
:evil laughter:

I always get annoyed when it's so obvious a network or the writers don't pay attention to the fans. If Vincent and Kathryn really have to leave, I really DON'T want to see any of them killed. How can they think we want that? That would be just an easy way to get rid of them. I also hate it that everyone is silent. If they made changes, just tell us how and what.

I don't think it's necessarily true that TPTB don't care about or listen to the fans, it's a matter of which fans they're interested in. Money AND demographics are at play here. While Jeff Goldblum is, I believe, a few years older chronologically than Mr. D'Onofrio, the former appeals to a different demographic. By virtue of his appearance in Hollywood blockbusters such as Jurassic Park and Independence Day, Mr. Goldblum appeals to the young male demographic that TV executives--and advertisers--covet. I don't think Mr. Donofrio appeals to this type of audience. Neither do Kathryn Erbe and Eric Bogosian, for that matter.

I can't disagree with this -- but this is my problem -- As a female viewer I have NEVER been in the most coveted demographic and am made more meaningless as each birthday comes down the road and I for one am tired of having all programming targeted to this market (young male). Are the rest of us chopped liver? I don't know how to combat this, but I would like to do something about it.

We need to fire them up about Eames -- It sure sounds like they are leaning to killing her off. It does appear they have heard the campaign loud and clear, which I would normally think would be good, but to decide to kill off a character rather than bring them back is crazy! If anyone hears anything definite, I would appreciate knowing -- it will help target the campaign!

-- it will help target the campaign! We've listed some things to target on the blog, but with VDO saying he won't come back, it's kind of taken a big wind out of the sails. That's why it's Phase 2. But if they kill Eames. Whew! Them's fightin' words. If we keep broadcasting that USA Network can't be trusted (with great characters) then we might tick them off. It might be time to hit the media with that....

Yeah, totally looks like they're targeting the average joe. And to me when one thinks of "average" it includes people who just go about their lives, not putting extra effort in things such as extracurriculars and hobbies...or in this case, thinking concerning real plot-based programing. In other words, they're targeting the people who generally want more drama than creativity and intrigue (IMO). I also feel these "average joes" are more likely to watch SVU because it has a lot of drama rather than the psychological stuff. ...As for Eames, I didn't know that they might kill her off. Hope not. That will be painful to watch. If they do her out like that I am done with the series, no debate about that. I hate when shows kill off the main characters. And for D'Onofrio, I thought he said he might come back...now he's not? Makes me wonder what happened, but its probably because of bad decisions from NBC/USA and what they're doing to everyone. I wouldn't want to work for them either.

Are the rest of us chopped liver? I don't know how to combat this, but I would like to do something about it. I hear what you're saying and I agree. I know I am in the age bracket that they look for but hello, Vincent appeals to ME! I just can't believe this is all about demographics. I mean, don't they realize there are millions of fans that aren't being included in their demographics? I know they don't consider Canada or other countries in these studies. They should because up here, LOCI is popular and everyone I know loves it (with the exception of one of my friends who thinks Goren is strange and is in love with Stabler from SVU). But the majority of people I talk to love this show. I work with a large group of people. Old, young, male, female, a melting pot of races and most people love LOCI over the other Law and Orders and why is that? So far, all but one have said they LOVE Goren! They think he's brilliant and fun, and he does add some angst when its needed. Really, I don't get how the network might think that these actors are expendable. Makes me want to stick the network execs on a sinking ship with an 18 year old man and a 40 year old woman. They can have a choice. listen to the 18 year old or the 40 year old... Of course they would chose the 18 year old...and what would happen? He would be trying to check for reception on his Iphone while the ship sinks and kill them all. Meanwhile, the 40 year old has abandoned ship and is swimming ashore a beautiful tropical island where all the locals look like VDO. BTW, the 'sinking ship' is the show. The execs are going to let it sink. pS...I know I sound like I'm on crack sometimes. But I swear I'm not.
