I've always had trouble with Lena's suicide. As a mother, I can't begin to imagine leaving a child behind knowing/hoping the father would end up in prison. Pretty selfish not considering her own daughter's wellfare after the fact. I would have called the cops then gone into hiding. I agree with this! Lena’s plan does just seem a bit…far-fetched. As a mother with her daughter’s best interests at heart, it is difficult to accept that she just couldn’t think of another way.

Skittles and Kacesq, I have looked at the episode and read your comments. I have this new interpretation: Bishop is trying to get noticed by Goren, Goren seems flattered a bit, but Bishop does not treat Eames well. Goren does not like this and begins to dislike Bishop. As Skittles said, in this episode Bishop fails to tell Eames that she is not coming to the DA office. It is until Eames asks that she says she won't come. On the other hand, I believe Eames is sitting with the writers in this episode, I love the end when Lance yells that Claire is not jewish, that you have to look at her to realize she is not, and Claire has red hair, green eyes, white skin... Marie Thayer casting and Lance last lines were written by Eames, no doubt! Now the suicide. I think that may be it is because this is the only way they will be subject to investigation by the detectives of the MCS. I find this a little bit unfair. Eames and Goren are such a good detectives that they could solve other types of crimes, (for example find who robbed the antrax, instead of solving the murder in zoonotic). Also they lose the opportunity to interact with the victim and the chance to see how the victim behaves. (I know it is criminal intent, but we could may be see the victim and the criminal interact, with the intervention of Goren and Eames). I believe they could shadow the detectives from the mothership or SVU. . I leave this for comment, I am afraid I might be wishing for something that will rip the show from its "personality".

Dimarec--You make a good point that Goren and Eames investigate a lot of murders. I read/saw an interview with Rene Balcer somewhere where he said the real Major Case rarely investigates murders unless they're part of another crime. But audiences expect the best detectives to investigate the worst crimes, and murders seem to provide the most dramatic opportunities. The writers try occasionally to explain why Major Case is called in on a particular crime. Here, I think it's because Lance Brody is a contractor who was underbid for some city work by other contractors who were discovered to be dishones and there was a chance that Mrs. Brody was killed because of that.
I really hate Bishop's last line in this one--"She stopped a killer, but at what price?" I'm not crazy about the line itself, but there's something about the way Samantha Buck says it that really annoys me.

Great observation Dimarec! I never thought of that angle, but now that you bring it up...I can see that! As mentioned, there is the 'going to the D.A.'s office' scene when Alex feels slighted. Bishop is ambitious and Deakin's likes her "hustle". I'm thinking that she is one of those women who view other females as competition. Too bad. Alex could have been a mentor and Bishop could have learned a lot from her. Remember in "Stray" (I think that's the one) Alex had helpful knowledge about ATMs in strip clubs, and with a proud smile Bobby said to Bishop "See what you missed by not working in Vice?" I think the subtext is Bobby saying "Look how experienced and smart Eames is. She could help you with your career. Stop being so catty and respect her"! As far as the murders, I agree with Patcat; "...audiences expect the best detectives to investigate the worst crimes...." It's the TV expectation. Although, there wasn't an actual murder in "Prisoner" was there? Any other eps without a death? I don't like the way Bishop delivered any of her lines... but I admit, I just don't like her!

Folie a Deux started out as a kidnapping investigation, although it was later revealed that the baby was dead. In the earlier seasons, especially Season 1, the show went out of its way to explain why Major Case was called in. For Art, it was the "art angle." For Baggage, it was because the victim had an ex-boyfriend who was a cop and who she had filed a complaint against, for Shandeh, it was because of the family's prominence, etc. I found that by the later seasons, Goren and Eames just showed up at scenes with no explanations, lol. I've always thought that anyone who thinks that CI is the Goren show really needs to watch the Bishop episodes to see how "off" they are. Eames is really needed to counter Goren. As Goren said in Semi-Detached, they have complementary skills.

Goren could work with a monkey and get the job done.
I don't think Bishop was being rude, she just thought learning from Bobby in that moment was more important.

Maybe Bishop wasn't intentionally being rude, but she sure wasn't a people person. From my personal southern perspective y'all, she could have been ambitious and polite. Bless her heart.

The only time I had a beef with her was in the restaurant scene in Pravda. Other than that I didn't think she was rude at all.

I didn't even think of that. I am just used to talking like an Irish mobster.

MJ a late reply to Patcat: I too find akward the way Samantha delivers its lines. She seems arrogant (compared to the collaborative Eames... Now I sound like Detv Goren: see what you are missing from Vice (more or less)). Skittles I your comments.
