The wonderful people at the reel site have some photos and links to reports on Mr. D'Onofrio's appearance at this event. He looks happy and comfortable (in spite of a rather scary fan), and in some of the photos you can see his feet, if you care about that sort of thing (g).

He looks happy and comfortable. Sarasota will do that to people. Sarasota has been a favorite vacation destinations of ours for years! Reported from another board is that the scary fan is now selling her pictures with VDO on e-bay.

Yea, I've heard some about the scary fan. Scary, and money grubbing. H-m-m...I think LOCI should do an episode...

...how about one of your fanfics?
Looks like the kid gloves are off.
Will Vincent D’Onofrio Make a Guest Appearance on Law & Order: Criminal Intent?
When asked Saturday night if he will be making guest appearances as Det. Bobby Goren on the television show Law & Order: Criminal Intent, D’Onofrio responded, "I hope not," which garnered laughter from the audience.
"It was 8 years and I thank you if you are a fan of Criminal Intent, I appreciate you sticking with me all those years," he said, "I couldn't think of any reason to stay there any longer other than the money and that's just not good enough for me."
D’Onofrio apologized to fans for leaving the NBC show but said, "I'll be around."
From thereel and Suite101.

If she's really "scary" then better she sells it, I wouldn't want to think she was sleeping with it under her pillow.

Totally didn't shock me...and now we know for sure that it wasn't about money for him... Fluff anyone? ROTFL!!! I would believe for sure that money had nothing to do with VDO leaving IF he had decided to leave while making $350,000 per episode. I took his comment more like it wasn't just about the money, since the money had been drastically cut and was now a non issue. This isn't a knock on the guy. In many ways the pay cut was a blessing for him, IMO. It gave him a practical reason to leave. I know from experience, having been torn between leaving a lucrative job that I hated. It's a tough decision.

You know, with all this talk about "pay cuts" - who was the first one to float that idea and where did it come from? I would like to know if there is even a credible source for that one.
I suppose I am more of the opinion that the choice was "get on board with less personal stuff and a new tone or get out". Maybe not put exactly that way...maybe it was much more subtle...but that remains my opinion of what one of the driving forces were. And it seems that Erbe and D'Onofrio stuck together because if it was only the so-called "pay cut", would she have left over that? And EB, as well? KE was overheard saying that she thought everything was going fine and then they were all fired. So it's a little more complicated than just a "pay cut", IMO.

OBC, I know there is a better source than this somewhere on site, or perhaps at The Reel or USA, but I did find this here: criminalmaster.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=generalcidiscussion&action=display&thread=4165"This is in my language no Television inside Lingo she used at me. Apparently there was a HUGE meeting of the powers that be in Los Angeles between NBC and all its affiliates. Ignoring the other stations I'm concentrating on what she said about USA.
All their shows but LOCI got the automatic 5% raise and signed quickly. Monk of course was Tony wanting to move on so he agreed to final season now he's done.
The greedy bastards of the PTB have taken months to work this out.
This business with LOCI is all about the bottom line of course. LOCI made USA therefore NBC stockholders the most money for a scripted drama or comedy on USA, so they did not want to cancel it. However, where the other USA stars make at the most $200,000 an episode and most much less, Vincent & Kate were making around $350,000 an episode plus Vince took a percent of the show last season in lieu of a raise. Goldblum pulled fair ratings at $175,000 an episode. So the decision was made to slash the stars salaries and make more money for the stockholders while keeping the shows numbers up. More money is paid by advertisers for new LOCI episode than any other new episode shows.
There were several proposals made, presented to the stars and rejected by brass by the stars or by Dick Wolf.
Kate and Vincent take a half pay cut--rejected.
Goren is killed and the circumstance cause Alex and Ross to quit.--rejected
All three killed in bomb blast or shoot out--rejected.
Let Kate go and Vince stay without a partner--he rejected.
Vince disappears like Logan. Kate stays as Jeff's partner--she rejected.
So they hashed and rehashed and finally came up with keeping status quo for the March half of season. 3 Stars leaving then -- writers to work out. Goren to leave where he can come back an make guest appearances. HOW that's for the writers to figure out.
This way they hold on to Vincent in the event Goldblum bombs and the show tanks they will have Vincent to bring the numbers back.
Vince gets a percent of the show to hold him to a loose contract.
So there you have it. We should have Bobby, Alex and Ross for the first episodes and then Bobby as a special guest star during the last half.
Vincent has supposedly given a verbal agreement to this. NOTHING has been signed. Not even Goldblum.
I'm not sure how reliable or accurate this information is. It SEEMS plausible, but who knows? I do know from other sources that VDO did make $350,00 per episode. It was on a list of salaries of TV actors. Erbe wasn't on it, so I have no idea what she actually made.

Ah - okay. I remember that one now. It was on BASRIC's blog and I think the person in question who gave BASRIC's friend the info was someone connected to the industry. And I do remember thinking that it was sweet that Vincent and Kathryn stuck together, like Meloni and Hargitay did. Too bad USA didn't give them the proper send-off they deserved. The second part of Loyalty played out like the producers handed their eleven-year-old an idea and said, "Here - finish this..."
