Techguy:
My condolences to Mrs. Techguy upon the Capitols' loss in the playoffs.
So, who should I root for now?

Yes Techguy, did Mrs Techguy have the chance to digest her beloved Ovie being on vacation? The series are weird this year, no Rangers and practically all teams had to fight for their spot in the second round (except for Philadelphia). Patcat you should root for any team, except Boston. Just kidding! My dream Stanley Cup finals : Montreal against Detroit.

Thanks Patcat and Mimi.
This is a very difficult time for Mrs. T. She's reacting to the Caps loss the same way diehard CI fans responded to the changes in CI and departure of G/E. She's so emotionally invested in the Caps as a team and Ovie as a player, all objectivity goes out the window.
Now she needs some time and space to come to terms with what happened. She's been dealing with it mostly through her pals on the Caps boards and blogs, so at least she has that support system. When the time is right, I'll suggest to her she view the video she shared with me to start the All Good Things thread--Peter Gabriel & Kate Bush in Don't Give Up which I believe is very timely and appropriate for her AND her beloved Caps and Ovie.

Some friends of mine were in Chicago over Memorial Day weekend. Apparently Chicago has gone just a little mad for the Blackhawks.

No surprise there Patcat. Chicago is a championship starved city. Their most recent champion is the NBA Bulls in 1998. The 1985 NFL Bears won the only Super Bowl in franchise history. As for the NHL Blackhawks, it's been almost half a century since their last Stanley Cup win. The MLB Cubs? Well, they're the Cubs, no further explanation is necessary. ;D

Yes, I believe one of the signs of the end of the world is when the little bears from the city by the big lake take the flag.

Thankfully, Blackhawks fans didn't re-create the Chicago Fire in their celebrations and burn down the city. ;D

While I was at the Tire Barn this morning getting a tire punctured by a nail fixed (testimonial for the Tire Barn--they fixed the tire for free, even though it wasn't one I purchased there because I had recently bought a couple of tires from them. And when I bought those tires they kept well within the budget I had and didn't try to sell me more expensive tires), I glanced at a copy of the ESPN magazine. They had a list of the 25 under 25 important athletes. Sydney Crosby was number one (gosh, he's cute), Alex Ovechkin was number 6. (He kinda reminds me of Viggo Mortenson.)

Patcat, Mrs. T and her fellow female Caps fans would seriously dispute the ESPN rankings.

Hey, if either Mr. Crosby or Mr. Ovechkin came knocking at my door on a cold and rainy night (or any night, come to think of it), I wouldn't turn them away. (g)

If both Ovie and Sid showed up at our door, Mrs. T would send me outside to talk hockey with Sid while she "entertained" Ovie! ;D
