Moonbeam, that is just so sad, there is no need for them to show the empty deask and chair, it's a slap in the face to his fans. Not very classy of usa, but then they have proven that already haven't they!!!!!

I wouldn't put it past them but how do you know it was his desk? I didn't see it.

I'd rather see Goren and Eames' empty chairs, than see other random Detectives sitting in them. That would be horrible.

I didn't mind this episode but I didn't love it. It felt a little like the writers trying to disgust us more than just writing for the sake of the story. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, who knows... I'm not crazy about Stevens only because I feel like she's a prop on the show. Her lines, the little glances between her and Nichols (which makes me feel like the writers want the duo to hook up later), and the little drops of info on her background randomly - it feels EXACTLY the way it did with Carolyn Barek. I felt that character too was a little forced, just like Stevens. It didn't have any of the natural character developments (at least not so far) or revelations we learned about some of the other characters: Goren, Eames, Logan, Deakins, Ross, Carver...or even Wheeler. I'm hoping the episodes will get better and they stop trying push Stevens on us 'cause I have a feeling I wouldn't mind her if the writers eased up a little... Personally, I think they should have done a Nichols/Eames partnership and kept Ross as the captain if they wanted to accommodate Donofrio's departure, that in my opinion would have been better than introducing Stevens.
The captain...I don't mind the actress but I do not like her character at all. She annoys me and I don't know why. Even with Ross I at least found him interesting and I warmed up to him after a little at a time. This captain isn't winning me over.
With all that said, I didn't mind the episode, but didn't love it. I think the best part of the whole episode was the casting. Damon was creepy and I've seen that actor in other things and he usually plays someone goofy or a bit of a loser. I never got the 'creepy' vibe from him until now - so kudos to the actor, he did a good job.
Also, I liked Maya, the actress that plays her was in a great Canadian show (that didn't last a year) a few years ago called 'Wonderfalls'. In it she had inanimate objects speaking to her. It was quirky and pretty funny. I also liked her in a movie called 'Breach' but again, I never saw her as anything like a killer so I was a little surprised of her character on this show but I do think she did a really good job.
I have to admit that I still feel like the writers are trying to turn Nichols into Goren with all that psychological knowledge but I'm trying to look past it. I liked how Nichols was comforting that girl when they arrested Damon...but I was a little confused as to why Maya confessed so easily at the end there. She just spewed up a confession with practically no push from Nichols/Stevens?
I also noticed from the last few episodes they are making Nichols the primary in the interrogation room - which isn't a good start in my opinion. If they want us to believe they're trying to make Nichols a unique person and not a clone of Goren, they need to stop making the male lead the one to do most of the interrogations. Hoping the next few episodes will be different...
The biggest revelation that jumped out at me at the beginning of the episode - this show is DEFINITELY not light or fluffy.
So yeah, still trying to keep hope up for the show but so far I'm not impressed...
