This is why I like Jeff - he is so off-the-wall. ------ Jeff Goldblum and Biz Markie Make the Best of FriendsThough Jeff Goldblum may be a certifiable genius – a certifiable something – his wiry energy is an ingredient that can yield unpredictable results. Combine him with an ordinary housefly or with Ed Begley Jr. and the outcome can be horrifying. But put him on a stage with a piano, the Roots and the rapper Biz Markie, as “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” did on Thursday, and what you get is a cover of the Biz’s “Just a Friend” that isn’t cynical or satirical – just exuberant and fun. (Someone should write an article about that.) In the meantime, if “Late Night” is taking requests for future pairings of idiosyncratic character actors and old-school hip-hop stars, can we vote for Christopher Walken and Sir Mix-A-Lot, or Steve Buscemi and Vanilla Ice?
