I wonder why Alex took the lieutenant's exam? Even early in her partnership she didn't seem to have much desire to be part of the Brass--remember her comment "I'm not in this job to get noticed" and her frequent comments about how much she hated the "buddy-boy" system. I like to think that she took the exam on a bet from one of her brothers or friends, and I have this image of Bobby helping her study for it.

Since Eames "fired" Goren in last season's finale, how do you think this aspect of the narrative will continue next season?
As soon as Alex "fires" Goren and tells the Chief of Detectives she's not taking the Captain's exam, she immediately picks up the phone and calls her PBA rep to report the "extortion" she experienced. The press start sniffing around when they find out one MC detective was fired and another resigned (so soon after the Captain of MCS was gunned down.) A major investigation ensues and heads begin to roll. At the top of the head rolling is the Chief. The investigation is a slow process.
What have Goren and Eames been up to since then?
Goren and Eames attend hearings to testify, Goren on his own behalf, Eames on her conversation with the Chief and the interim Captain. Goren is exonerated and reinstated with back pay (including the six month suspension.) Eames is offered a Lieutenants position, but declines, wanting to partner with Goren leaving open the possibility at the end of this season her taking the position.)

Patcat I don't remember when exactly she became Lieutenant ( was it ever mentioned ?). Was it recently or years ago? My thought is she took it long time ago. She is portreyed as strong, tough woman. I belive her feelings are as strong as she is. Like you said Patcat she never wanted to ''play along with the boys''. She is unflinching and true cop. She can't deal with feelings any other way but to work harder. My guess is she took the exam to destract herself and to forget her torment over giving up sister's baby.

Moonbeam, your description of what may have happened is totally plausible, and I hope that the new showrunner goes with your storyline. It is perfect!

Thanks DonnaJo. I think it makes sense. That's why it probably won't happen.

Moonbeam, I agree with DonnaJo. Your scenario for Goren and Eames is spot on perfect. I hope CI's new showrunner reads this site and takes your cues to make it happen!

True, Donnie's troubles can be laid at his own feet, and I wonder how much he might be like his father in being able to manipulate people. Patcat Like his father and his uncle.

I just think he is young and dumb, and that is a little different. Young and dumb and mentally ill.

Yea, Donnie tells Bobby that he (Donnie) is bipolar. I'm certainly willing to accept Donnie's statement, but he is the only one who says that. Could he be playing Bobby?

Hmmm.....interesting idea, Patcat. Most teens/young adults know how to gain sympathy from adults. Not sure if its playing them or just being young. Either way, I get the feeling that Donnie has been diagnosed as bi-polar or ADHD by his school system.
I'm sure at this point Donnie is back at home with his Mom. At least I hope he is.

I just wanted to post a reply about what attracts me about the goren-eames work relationship. -I love that Goren behaves humbly: -- Despite the fact that he often cracks the case, he does not ask for recognition, he just likes solving the cases. -- He respects Eames as a partner, her work and likes her for being smart. -I like that Eames is so down to earth and honest: -- She translates Goren feelings with striking sentences. -- She also likes to solve the cases, though may be she has some motivation in her past for going after criminals (I don´t care, she is such a good cop!). -- She cares to have a clear perspective on the relevant issues. -- She is so fast to clear emotional issues.
In season 8 I liked that Goren looks more calm, he is still full of angst, but has worked out so many issues. I looked at season 9 episode 3 in 1, and I felt why can´t Goren have this kind of closure? In this episode Goldblum works with his father and earns his respect. It felt so good!!! I don´t think Goren character is made for that level of intimacy, but it is nice to see that he could work out some issues. Still I like Goren dark side coming up once in a while, it just reminds us that he is not perfect, that he works hard and has an extraordinary hability for predicting human nature.

Thank you dimarec for your beautiful post. I'm not so good at writing and I find it hard to put my thoughts into words. You just put it perfectly. I had no time these days to post anything just check the site a bit. It will probably take a while when I will be able to write here again (back to work and dealing with family ). What can I say, you made my day !!
