So I have USA-LOCI on Twitter and they posted today asking for: Help from fans to get best scenes from S1-S5 highlighting Goren's personal issues. No idea what they're gonna use this for I just found it interesting.

Interesting that its asking for Seasons 1 through 5. Seasons 6 and 7 are when we were really pummelled with Goren's personal issues.
Maybe they're putting together a marathon as a prelude to Season 10?
I don't know, but I'm not happy about the possibility of more of Bobby's personal issues...

Color me skeptical. The personal stuff didn't really get started until season six (mother, brother, Donny). Makes one wonder if the new showrunner is cutting corners. Heaven forbid, anyone on staff could do a little research.

May be they just want us to go and see again seasons 1 to 5, before season 10.

Actually, things got very personal for Bobby the moment Nicole showed up in S2. "Anti-Thesis" had a wealth of personal stuff mixed in with Bobby's relentless pursuit of the white witch. Then came "Person of Interest", highlighting more of Bobby's personal stuff. S3 gave us plenty of subtle (and not so subtle - remember the neck grab in "F.P.S."?) angst with Bobby's difficulty in dealing with Bishop (that was fun stuff!) and in "Mad Hops" the coach pegged him as "a boy with an indifferent father". S4 saw the entrance of a few moments of angst for Bobby, too...otherwise Nelda wouldn't have gotten under his skin. He was lonely - he sort of confessed to that in "Want"...and of course there was that moment of direct confrontation in that same epi with Carver. He sparred with Nicole again in "Great Barrier", and the scene in the interrogation room with Ella, where they watched the old footage of his interview with Nicole was very telling. His face said it all. S5 gave us "In The Wee Small Hours" - which was a stellar episode and definitely pushed Bobby's buttons on a very personal level regarding both Frances and Eames. Then we were onto S6 and much more "up front" personal angst...but really it's been there all along. Leight only upped the stakes in S6-7.

outerbankschick, I think you just gave USA the episodes they should use to highlight Bobby's personal issues in S1-5. I did prefer the Seasons 1-5 approach to the personal than the Seasons 6 and 7 approach, although there were definitely some stellar episodes in those seasons. I used to be very embittered and cynical about those seasons, but I've been re-examining those seasons and I have a much deeper appreciation for the journey Bobby was on in those seasons. That being said, I still hope that we find Bobby in a healthier, happier place in Season 10.

Good God! Enough of the personal issues and on with some good detective work. ( I guess I'm still grateful we didn't have to attend his mother's funeral.)

Actually, I would have liked a little more of Bobby and Frances.

I don't mind knowing a little backstory, but for me, they went overboard with Bobby. And that whole "who's your daddy" thing made me ill. I don't understand why they had to crush him.

Yes, fans are used to thinking "Who's your Daddy?" in a different way when it comes to Goren.

Likely producers are looking for clips to serve as flashbacks in forthcoming Goren therapy sessions. Who better to tap for research than devoted fans?
I am puzzled that no one is speculating (PC's ASB regardless) on this aspect pf S10 because I can almost guarantee that couch talk will be what viewers will tear into most once the series reboots.
Who will be cast as the brilliant female shrink? Who should be cast? How will the therapy scenes be incorporated into the police procedural plots?
I don't assume this final Goren personal arc will be "The Sopranos" redux but rather something (more) original. And very interesting. Am I alone?

Interestingly enough, at least for me, the April 28th CI marathon on USA - which is a Thursday, not the usual CI marathon day - seems to be devoted to Goren's personal issues eppies - POI, Untethered, Purgatory, Endgame, Grow and some others...
Makes me think USA is warming up the audience for S10 and whatever those therapy sessions will entail.
I think I'm too apprehensive about those sessions to speculate about them, annabelleleigh. I initially disliked the personal arc of Seasons 6 and 7 but have now grown to appreciate them, and for some episodes, even like them but I'm not sure if I want to revisit them again.
For me, at least, I had an idea of who Goren was; some of the personal stuff contradicted my own ideas about him and that was disappointing to me. Obviously, I don't own Goren and my ideas are just that, but it lessened my enjoyment of the show and I worry that the therapy sessions could do that to me for S10.
S10 is such a short season - 8 episodes, 40-something minutes apiece. We have a new showrunner; I don't know what he's bringing to the table and I don't know, frankly, if he'll be any good. If you had told me Rene Balcer was coming back for S10, I'd be more intrigued by the psychotheraphy sessions than I am. The shortness of the season for me is part of the reason I'm apprehensive about the sessions. I don't want them to take over the majority of the episodes, but if you don't give them enough time, what's the point? It could be a no-win situation.
I do take heart in the comments by the USA network honchos abotu this being a victory lap and those press releases which said that the therapy sessions were a way to put Goren on the right track, or whatever wording they used. For me, I really need S10 to end with a healthy, reasonably happy Goren so I can close the book on CI in a good way, and not be upset/annoyed by the ending as I've been with other series..
I don't know why we haven't heard of the casting of the psychiatrist. I assume since we're filming what, episode 2 or 3, by now, that she's cast. I do think if she's cast with an attractive actress, people will speculate/worry about possible underlying sexual tension between Goren and the psychiatrist...
I apologize for my ramblings, I'm typing furtively at work, lol, but I did want to weigh in on the lack of speculation, at least on my part. I think it boils down to "I'm too scared to speculate!" LOL.

Hi Annabelleleigh! I think we have done some speculating in the "Looks like May" and "This Spring Order..." threads. There was a lot of apprehension regarding the psychiatrist. Kacesq summarizes the general feeling (IMO) in her post so I'll try not to be too redundant. Seems folks hope that the therapy sessions don't take over the show and that the idea of Goren having a romantic interest in his shrink is taboo. We all just want a satisfying happy ending for him without over-the-top drama or therapy cliche's. My issue is Eames. I know Goren is going to get WAY more attention because that's the way it is, but I REALLY REALLY want to see a little more into her character and have her end in a good, happy place! I also hope G/E are closer this season than they were in season 8-9. Other than "Lady's Man", they just weren't very warm or friendly IMO. I'd like to see Bobby dancing around and hear some snarky lines from Eames and watch them smiling and laughing together like they did in the first few seasons.

The sessions with the police psychologist are mandatory and I think Goren may be resistant to these meetings. He has “authority” issues, but because the captain is a friend he may not be so negative. There is also Goren’s own psychological “expertise” which he applies to the cases he is investigating, so the “sparks” may fly when he, himself, is being profiled. There may be some interesting body-language!
As to the actress, I hope it is not one who has a “history” with the show.

I agree Jeffan. I think Bobby will be resistant but will then find himself responding to the therapy sessions in spite of himself. Like Tony Soprano was with Dr. Melfi in the beginning. If they do recycle an actor, maybe they could get Margaret Colin to reprise her role as Dr. Eloise Barnes from "Shrink Wrapped"!LOL ;D She would show some cleavage and leg since apparently that is what it takes to keep TV interesting. (Not to us of course! ) We should have a nickname- like Star Trek has Trekkies. LOCI's ?
