Yes, LOCI beat my 7 years favorite CSI Vegas... and Goren beats Grisom 1,000,0000 times. ;D And there is NO ONE in Vegas like Eames.

Given the way USA is plugging the show - and the big "return" rather than focusing on "final", I'd say the odds are maybe a little in favor of another season. And on Morning Joe, Vincent gave his opinion that they may be doing more than eight - which I wouldn't take as "gospel truth" - but he's at least more credible than some of the sources that fed us "leaks" before the "big changes" of S9. I hope we do get another season. I think G/E are a great team and there is so much crap on TV - okay well, aside from Blue Bloods and (my sister's other fave) The Good Wife - and if we can have another season or two of LOCI it would be an oasis in the bleak desert of the TV landscape. And I happen to enjoy my weekly visits with my TV husband Bobby Goren, so if TPTB would be so kind as to indulge me a little more, I'd be thankful enough that I might even watch some of those other shows on USA...or at the very least, I won't choke on the network's call letters. Oh yeah, and while I'm thinking about it...would someone please put in a call to Sammy The Bull and tell him there are some "reality" shows that *really* need to be "put out to pasture"

I wonder if an 11th season of LOCI will be influenced by the success of LOLA? I'm thinking that if the 'new and improved' L&O LA isn't renewed next season, Dick W. might not want two of his series to be canceled at the same time. (?) Looks like SVU will undoubtedly be renewed with Warren Leight as the show runner.

New and improved LO:LA's premiere had its worst ratings ever. Which makes me sad for Rene, but I tried to watch LO:LA and it just doesn't work for me...that being said, I think NBC and Dick Wolf invested too much into LO:LA to not give it another season. FWIW, watching the evolution of Vincent's comments on this season and the future, I tend to think we're getting more than these 8 episodes. Did everyone see the brief blurb in TV Guide? Vincent was quoted as saying that this season will be more like the first four, not as dark for Goren but with a lot of the "quirkiness" that made fans like the show in the first place. I'm getting so optimistic for this season. ETA especially for skittles! Chris Brancato, the showrunner, was also quoted as saying both Vincent AND Kate brought their "A games" to these episodes.

I believe that Dick Wolf is thrilled by LO:CI. He has tried to include the two teams formula on the show and it didn't work, so he tried to substitute G/E and it didn't work (I believe specially the G, I think that now he might be noticing the relevance of the E, and that G/E is not equal to E over G, G/E is a team). LO:LA seems to try to include some LO:CI aspects in it but still it doesn't work. The other thing LO:CI has is that most fans are adult women (although I have a teen niece that likes the show , smart girl!). He probably wants to have a more diverse audience for this show, but he hasn't found the formula. Also he is probably trying to make his characters more flexible so they can be replaced or shifted like in the Mothership. I believe that VDO and KE have helped to create two very good and very difficult to replace characters. (why they don't have these problems with SVU?, I feel that LO:CI is "the black sheep"of the LO franchise (I don't believe it is just for ratings...)). (I don't watch SVU because I don't like sex crimes, it feels too close to home, while Major Case is so rare that chances to happen close to home is rare). Anyway, I hope the show will have good ratings. So far today I am happy because this forum had two hundred something visits by guests in the last 24 hours. I hope this is a rising trend (and not a statistical anomaly ).

I think part of LO:LA's problem - probably a big part - is that Law & Order IS New York - NOT Los Angeles. I really think that is why it's not working.
CSI can be in three very different cities and still work because as a franchise, that is how it has always been. The Law & Order franchise has always been New York. Attempting to change that now - after two decades! - was a bold move, but one that just didn't work.

I would love more episodes, but even if we don't get them, I am still encouraged by the fact that VDO talks about the possibility of doing more - because it means they are unlikely to kill off Goren and/or Eames in the "final" episode. I mean, can't you just picture some network executive, and perhaps even VDO because he likes to act in territory they haven't covered before, thinking it was a great idea to write the great Goren death scene? Especially since at one stage it was 'definitely' the final season? I was really worried they were going to do that. (It would mean another episode, like Loyalty pts 1 and 2, that I just had to block from my mind and pretend they were never made...) So all this talk of a possible future has gone some way to putting my mind at rest.
Warren Leight can probably destroy even SVU in a few years. Wonder if he will bother to read any of those character's backstories before writing episodes for them? (Yes, not a fan of Warren Leight!)
We still haven't seen any of LO:LA in Australia. I would like to see an episode or two before it gets cancelled!

Dimarec I love your G/E math it's the first equation I have understood in a long time! ;D I never could figure those stupid train questions out! Anyway, I also think Eames is just as important to LOCI as Goren is. It was their partnership that really drew me in.

I remember an interview with VDO and KE prior to season 8 in which they said they were going to be less personal and more like the earlier seasons. Turned out to be the worst season with G/E IMO. Those episodes had none of the personality of the earlier years, in fact, sometimes it felt like the writers had never even watched the show! Hopefully this time it really will be more like the good old days. Yes Kacesq! You know I'm glad to see KE mentioned and treated like an equal! Glad you pointed that out!
