Well I just loved this episode! I know I was like a dying man in a desert searching for an oasis so even briney water would have suited me, but I happen to think it was Evian. Like OBC it was hard to watch and keep up with the chat which was why I had to watch it again to fully get it, but hey thats no problem . I know I am echoing some other people with my comments but hey great minds think alike . first, the few things I didn't like was no new opening except for the very end, I would have expected some new up to date scenes. Also didn't like that they didn't introduce the new capt. All of us hard core fans knew who he was but to the casual viewer they were probably thinking who is that guy? And that welcome back detectives at the crime scene was so obviously dubbed in. I am curious to see how they are going to transition from here to what was obviously meant to be the premiere next week. Now all the things I loved about it , Goren and Eames were Goren and Eames and it was fantastic! I loved all the little touches like Goren stopping the guy with mannequin to the texting bit and of course the phone call. I also thought they looked great. It's nice to see real people solving crimes instead of size 2's with plunging cleavage. I liked how Eames was more professionally dressed than in the past. I also loved Lesli Hendrix, that was the icing on the cake and I am sure she got secret satisfaction over noticing something Goren missed. I also liked her look when Goren was turned away from them imagining the fight. You could tell she was thinking, wow he is more strange than I remembered! I also thought Jay Mohr did a great job. He almost had me feeling sorry for him, which is something I have never felt about Charlie Sheen. MJ, as for why Teddy murdered him and his daughter, well he was trying to use his daughter to black mail him for money so Teddy could start his own clothing line, something Nyles apparently had promised Teddy for years. When the daughter balked he murdered her and when Nyles caused the IPO deal to be taken back, thereby losing him 3 million dollars, because of his bad behavior he exploded and killed Nyles. I just read where this episode had 5.1 million viewers, almost twice as much as last year, so I am doing my little happy dance! ;D

You have all made thoughtful, intelligent comments about this episode. Ready for some silly and fluffy observations? ;D OMG y'all!!! Debra had AN AFFAIR WITH HER SHRINK!!!!! This had BETTER NOT be foreshadowing of things to come! The psychiatrist's name was Dr. Harper. On Two and 1/2 Men, Charlie Sheen's character's name was Charlie Harper. (and yes, I did watch that trash until he started going off the deep end. LOL ) Everything seemed so much more colorful and bright than in previous seasons. Could you see Deakins or Ross in that purple-pink shirt and tie? The new captain is married. Alex and Bobby smiled more in Rispetto than in seasons 6-9 combined. I loved that Nyle said "All the beautiful women in NY were there, except yooooouuuuuu!" to Alex. On L&O SVU, everyone is always commenting on Olivia's hotness so it is nice that Eames got a 'holla'. I missed Jeffries and Riche. I understand the scene between Nyle and the prostitute, but when he asked "Does your father know that you're a whore?" while caressing her leg, I just cringed and thought EWWWWWWW!!!!!! Really weird. That was one big umbrella!

It's the type of thing Charlie Sheen would say. Thank you Idget, I knew the why about Nyle but couldn't think of why he hurt the daughter. I guess the problems of skinny blondes don't mean that much to me.

"I missed Jeffries and Riche "
Skittles, wasn't Richie (bald headed Detective) the bald Detective now with the goatee/beard that made a comment to Eames (I think) in the squadroom? He was sitting behind her?
I thought that looked like him. Hard to tell after one quick viewing, and Ritchie usually never speaks. Or am I losing it, lol? ;D

I didn't notice... the goatee would have thrown me. ( I wouldn't make a very good detective!) I'll have to look next time I watch. Thanks for the tip! Jeffries and Riche didn't have many lines, but I always liked to see them working hard in the background.

I liked this episode, it was well written. I loved Jay Mohr character and his boss (not a saint!). Also I found very elegant the way they are reaching Charlie Sheen, a way of saying beware of what you are doing. I liked very much Kathryn Erbe acting and I don't remember her last line, but I remember I liked it so mucho. I found Goren a bit too confident and calm, but still it might be due to the therapy he already had (4th episode). I did not like the villain, honestly, *spoilers*, he easily confessed, I would have liked a little more of pressure to confess. I did think it was the son at first. I am sad because I won't be able to see any of the forthcoming episodes and I really wanted to see The Consoler. I hope the audience numbers keep rising and that we keep seeing those nice and confident smiles in VDO and KE faces. (I love to see them happy doing the show). May be USA will do as with Fairly legal and leave one or two full episodes for the rest of the world to see on the web. (As we say down here: If you don't beg, you don't get it). Thanks for reading.

I'm a little late getting back to the party. Funny how real life activities like writing term projects for a Master's degree can sidetrack recreational use of the Internet. ;D
I can't add much to what's already been said. What I liked most is the return to "old school" CI with lots of snark and humor and devoid of hand-wringing melodrama. We have a crime--actually 2 murders by the time it ends--we find out whodunnit and most important we find out why, the INTENT of the show's title.
I was impressed by the acting of the guest stars, most especially Jay Mohr as Nyle and Neal Huff as Teddy. I also liked seeing Goren dressed neatly in a suit and clean shaven, not like a messy slob. He looked in control and in command, so it will be interesting to see how he opens up to his shrink when the episodes with those scenes air.
It also occurred to me that this episode is much more appropriate as the Season 10 premiere, only not for the silly Charlie Sheen connection. It's appropriate because of its title which translates as "respect." I don't think there are many CI fans who feel USA has treated the show and the lead actors ie original characters with much respect for the past few years. Maybe this is a subtle way for the network to acknowledge its mistake and make amends with its fans by offering an olive branch and bringing back Goren and Eames in style. It was like seeing old friends again after they'd been gone for too long.

They got it in spades with the ratings. It was like seeing old friends...happy to see them again, and then it felt as if they'd never left.

Just saw this episode...I liked it. I thought Jay Mohr did a great job 'cause he normally plays laid back characters and with this one he went all out and it worked. Goren & Eames were great, I love Goren's little laugh on the phone, setting up the fake meeting. I just loved all their scenes. Not much to add to what's already been said. Eames is love. Goren is love. Reading previous posts on here I had to laugh. As soon as the new Captain said "Step into him" I immediately thought of Deakins too. People's thoughts on the kid Tyler...I personally got the feeling he'll be fine. At least if he channels his anger into his little doodles he will be. What I thought would have been interesting was if HE was the one that did the sketches. Granted I didn't want him to be the murderer but it was a thought I had when I saw Tyler doodling at 1PP.
