Celebrity 100 Hometowns: New York, New YorkWow - ---- Start spreading the news. New York City is the top-earning hometown of the FORBES Celebrity 100 list. Eighteen celebs on this year’s FORBES Celebrity 100 list call NYC home, and together they raked in more than $872 million dollars in the past twelve months... If these hometown heroes shared the wealth, it would mean roughly a million dollars per capita of NYC’s current population of 8.2 million—not bad for a city where the average household income is just under $40,000 and 21% live below the poverty line... Another top-earning New Yorker who not only calls the city his home but has made it the set for one of the most syndicated TV dramas of all time is Dick Wolf, the creator and producer of the Law & Order franchise. Wolf pulled in $70 million by FORBES estimates in the past twelve months, for his producing work on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal intent (currently airing its final season) as well as the massive worldwide syndication of the flagship series, Law & Order, which ended in May 2010. A few years ago The Wall Street Journal ran an article (by Brooke Barnes as I recall) about the value of the L&O franchise worldwide. According to that piece it's a highly profitable one billion dollar industry.
