Straight down the middle solid episode, made really enjoyable by Goren's eccentricities and the psych session,

PC, my bad. I started a thread for this episode discussion. I realized I put the wrong ep number in the title and modified it. You must have started this thread as I was editing my original post. Sorry for the confusion.

I felt I watched two episodes. Absolutely re-watch worthy. Favorite line, "you ungrateful little prick. Oh, I thought it was the nose." Psych session was good, but found it a bit of a distraction so early on in the episode.

Overall I liked the episode. I noticed it was written by Warren Leight. It did remind me of Betrayed especially considering they used the names Avery, cougar and the same murder weapon Viagra (I guess they got permission to actually use the real name instead of V-boost). I did miss Dr. Rodgers they could have had her tell the detectives about the Viagra. I will take any excuse to see her. The best part for me was the psych session, you can tell he has let his guard down a little bit. But I doubt that will last especially considering the previews. I wonder what will be the question she asks that really presses his button and makes him walk out?

I think he was lying to Paula about his feelings for Eames.

He could have been lying about his feelings, but if he is, he's lying to himself. It makes sense that he thinks of her as a sister. A romantic releationship has been taboo for 11-12 years. Also, Goren has a point about being able to have a professional relationship without it becoming romantic.

No problem, TG,
I think Goren is telling the truth as best he could and can.

For me the episode was OK, but blah, stodgy. Maybe it's just Warren Leight! I didn't care about the victim, though the wife was probably the real victim. Eames with her snark had it right: "the dilettante, the drama queen, or some other alcoholic snob." I didn't care. Goren and Eames seemed to be wading in knee-high water...trudging through the case.
Enjoyed Goren's "footwork" shall we say. His foot blocking the pocket door, comparing foot size with the suit of armor and the size 13 vibe were all welcome in a quiet episode. His knowledge of wines (Remember "Badge"? You like good food!) and "The Nose" saying he didn't have a cop's palate (the look on Eames' face!) were welcome bits in, dare I say, a palatable episode that was very, very dry to the taste.
Last week's episode was bubbly champagne. This week was weak and a bit flat, but I'll have to watch again.
Can someone reiterate for me the order of filming? With USA screwing around with the order...it just seemed awkward. I don't know.

"The Days of Wine and Ho'ses." Can someone explain how the wife knew what the key was for? The episode just felt disjointed. I was concentrating on the wine angle in the beginning (3 bottles, 6 bottles, auctions, euros) then I had to switch gears for the psych session. I was distracted because I couldn't stop thinking about Goren sitting in the chair not answering the question on being lonely. Switch gears again to the wife, model and prenup (oh, and lets not forget the actress/escort). This thing was all over the map. Goren being quirky Goren saved it for me. The radioactivity of the wine, "Art."

A friend of mine told me recently that this season was all about "blowing kisses" to the fans. How apt.
AL
P.S. Loved this episode. Must have more. This cannot be the final season.
P.P.S. Warren Leight! Who will be see in the writers' credits next? Stephanie Sengupta? Gina Gionfriddo? Charlie Rubin? Can hardly wait until next Sunday.

It's possible Goren has been lonely or so long that he doesn't even realizes he's lonely.

Thanks for the information kacesq! A friend of mine told me recently that this season was all about "blowing kisses" to the fans. How apt. I am happy about the "blowing kisses" to the fans aspect of this short season. How many TV series get this opportunity? The fans loyalty to LOCI and the characters is formidable, but these days that doesn't get rewarded very often. As far as writers in the upcoming weeks, I'd love to see a topnotch Stephanie SenGupta, Marlane Gomard Meyer, or Diana Son episode and we can also look forward to the rewrite by Rene Balcer.

Shrink scene great the rest, ehh. Loved the measuring with the foot and the size 13 vibe! Eames snark good too.
The story a snooze.
And that look at the end-wtf?
And if any of them are out there: Quit changing character names! We already have enough Joes, and I am used to calling her Dr. Severin.

It's possible Goren has been lonely or so long that he doesn't even realizes he's lonely. PC, my pal, you know where to find the answer to that -- in the script of "Want" when Goren says of loneliness: "You never get used to it." AL
