Our board DID experience a server crash; let's hope it doesn't crash again. It was not a moderator connected issue.
If you want to be put on a notice list so that I can assure you any future problems are NOT YOUR pc; but the board tech issues - please contact me with the email you want me to use for contact and your user name.
Thank you for your patience.

Hey All,
I'm going to be playing around with the board colors and such for a few days. Let me know what you think of the effects. Thanks, Mastermind

Well Mastermind, I don't particularily care for the black background. It's too harsh on the eyes. You did ask!

Thank you very much, Nikki Yes, I did ask, and for just that reason. I chose the black background to tie in with Criminal-Intent.us, but if the black is hard on the eye, I could change it on both. I just like the way the text jumps out on it. The new banner and fader I'm working on will look nice with it, as well. So, bear with me while I add those things and experiment with new colors and images, and keep me informed with your valuable feedback Thanks MM

As you can see, a few more updates have been made to the boards. The new buttons are to make it a little easier to see which boards have new posts since your last visit. The badge symbolizes old posts you have seen, and the magnifying glass symbolizes new posts since your last visit. To take advantage of this you need to click the "mark as read" icon at the bottom of the main page before you leave each visit, and log back in when you come back. I have a few other police-type buttons and icons that you may be seeing in the next few days. Feedback is very welcome Thanks, Mastermind

Mastermind, it looks good, very clever. One question: how does login and cookies affect this new feature? I noticed that if I am not logged in I get a different view than if I am. On the same subject....could browser cookie and security settings be affecting the members who have had trouble posting? Just a thought......... D.

Mastermind, I think that the black just intensifies the blue and the red, especially the red. I like the look of the badges and magnifying glasses.

Domenica, it has nothing to do with cookies. When you are not logged in, you are essentially a guest on the board with no settings of your own. When you are logged in, your personal settings (stored here) are automatically activated. Guests will only see the shield because they have no personal settings to show what they have read.
I think it is very possible that browser settings and cookies could effect members. Proboards uses Java scripts, so if you are using Internet Explorer 4.0 or Netscape 4.0 or lower, you may have trouble loading the graphics. If the members having trouble are using a more updated browser, they may need to ajust thier settings to allow for Java scripts. If anyone needs help figuring out how to do this, PM me.
An overabundance of cookies is a detriment on any website. If you are experiencing a slow load when you login this may be because ProBoards is trying to read your cookies to see how long it's been since your last login, and where else you've been. If it takes too long the page will "time out."
Nikki, would it help if I used a darker red and/or blue?

Mastermind, I think that a darker shade of red would probably help things a great deal. ETA: I like your banner on the home page.

Ok, the red is a shade darker. I know this makes the blue text a little bright, but I can't change the color of the text without changing the rest of the blue on the board. Let me know what you think. And thanks for the compliment on the banner

Mastermind, it all looks good. The red was previously on the orange-y side. Maybe that's why it was on the harsh side. The new red looks cooler. I guess there's more blue in it. Thank you.

The darker red is easier for me anyways, although that blue seems a little dulla nd hard to see. BUt it's not unbearable, I like this set up.
And I love the PDR banner, class act! Wonder what the writers would think should they happen to find this site... Thanks!
