We know, it sucks. We don't want them there either. We're discussing our options, which currently are to leave them alone and hope everyone can get used to them or to pay for ad free service.
Your thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

It's OK Moderators. We can deal with them if it helps the site run without additional expenses. Don't worry about it.
I, for one, appreciate this site, which I get tremendous pleasure out of. And it doesn't cost me one cent. So, do what you must to defer your costs.

Ditto. This isn't PBS, after all.
Patcat (wait, there are actually fewer ads here than on PBS...)

No complaints from me either Admin/Mods. If the ads help you run the site with lesser expense, I'm all for it. On with the show.

I don't mind the ads either, I noticed the ads sometime mirror the thread title! Which led to a flow of childish and useless new threads I could start just to see what kind of ads I would get.

It doesn't bother me. Seems they only appear after the first post in a thread, right? No big deal.

IT'S A FORMER-KGB MOBSTER CONSPIRACY!!! No problem here, either, although webmasters and mods must hate to see their sites messed with like that.

... webmasters and mods must hate to see their sites messed with like that. You have no idea how many mods have complained. For people who haven't done much custom scripting to modify and enhance their forums, it's just a minor annoyance. For people like me, it's like a slap in the face. We've been told that we're at the beginning of a trial period that will end April 16th. If people haven't "gotten used to it" (read: stopped bombarding them with complaints) by then, the Proboards owners will move the ads back. Anyone wanna help stuff the complaint box?

Anyone wanna help stuff the complaint box? Sure, how exactly do we do that?

Very willing to help. A friend in programming hates this type of thing with a passion, and that reaction seems completely justified to me. So, I'd love to help stuff the complaint box right up to the 16th. You guys run a great site, so anything I can do....

I take back what I said about no complaints. I just noticed the @#$% ads aren't just between the first and second posts of each thread, they're between the first and second posts ON EACH PAGE of every thread! *Boo hiss!*

Thanks for offering to help, everyone, but apparently the complaint box has already been sufficiently filled. We've just gotten word that each forum admin will be given the option to move the ads back to the top by the 16th. The ads will be out of our threads asap. Thanks again for your support

If you want us to help complain to the hosting company, I'd be glad to. Just point me to the proper mailbox.
