I'm working on an essay discussing Goren and Grissom (among others) as modern variations of Sherlock Holmes. I've read several interviews with Mr. D'Onofrio and Mr. Petersen, and have been impressed with the similarities between their views on their characters and acting. Both, for example, have indicated that a disenchantment with how films are made (particularly big budget ones) led to their work in television.

''Talking about soap, today I watched the CSI Las Vegas episode directed by Tarantino where Nick Stokes is kept in a buried box while his mates look for him and I thought that if those who have seen it give their opinion about if it is soapy or not, we can have an idea of what people think about this abstract concept and since Eames could be kidnapped too...''
I think it wasn´t soapy, the only too melodramatic moment is at the end with Warrick's reaction but in general it wasn´t too soapy.
In my soapymeter I give it a 5.5

In my soapymeter I give it a 5.5 That is not what I call soapy at all. If it is considered "soapy" by some people, it is not the "soapy" that I have problems with on shows that are not "soap operas" from the beginning. The soapy that I do not like on self contained procedural crime dramas or mysteries is having people who work together sleeping together or having archs that have a "will they or won't they" tone. I have more problems with Grissom who is head of a department sleeping with one of his team members more than I do with say the "Lady Heather flirtation" or the kidnapping.

"In the July 31 - Aug 6 issue of TV Guide, CSI executive producer Carol Mendelsohn revealed star William Petersen is taking a break from the show.
The actor, who plays front-man Gil Grissom, will be absent from CSI for a couple of episodes due to professional commitments. Petersen, an avid theatre fan, will be busy this fall in Providence starring in Trinity Repertory Company's stage production of Conor McPherson's A Dublin Carol.
The writers have already penned down a storyline that'll help explain Grissom's absence. According to Mendelsohn, this plot will, "push Grissom to an emotional place, requiring a sabbatical of sorts."
To absorb the impact of Petersen's absence, however, the producers plan to cast a big-name guest star to fill in Grissom's vacancy. These Grissom-free episodes will air during January, and the actor will be back just in time for February sweeps. "

oh i love csi always have i think the original is best although miami and new york are 'alright' i like certain characters from certain shows but out of the three i say csi (original) has to be the one where i like ALL the characters!
LOCI is brill i think Goren is like the More emotional Gil Grissom although Grissom has be known to share his emotions on occassions!

CSI (10/19/2006) "Double Cross" "A woman is found crucified on a makeshift cross in a Catholic church that's being renovated in a run-down part of town. The investigation reveals the victim was a singer in a local club and that she may have known the priest at the church. The body is discovered by two nuns, one of whom loathes the priest, while the other worships him." This episode was written by Marlane Gomard Meyer who wrote for L&O:CI (Gift, Saint, Happy Family, Posthumous Collection, Silver Lining) for a few seasons. This episode also featured Tim Guinee who played the father of the very bright child in "Bright Boy" from season 2 of L&O:CI. I thought this was a very good episode. Unlike so many CSI episodes, it featured only one story and stayed focused on that story and it gave the guest actors more screen time. This is one episode that I think some viewers of L&O:CI who normally do not care for CSI might find interesting. This episode can be viewed on www.cbs.com at the Innertube full episodes section. They have the most recent four episodes of the season available to be viewed free on this sight. Other shows that can be viewed include Numbers, CSI:NY, CSI:Miami, NCIS, Survivor, and Jericho.

One of CSI's shining moments, before the beginning of the end.

I love both criminal intent and csi . Goren and Eames are my favorite - Ci Gil and Catherine are my favorite - csi Does any one here hate GSR? I think Gil & Catherine should be together same with Bobby and Alex. - I was big into Gil & Catherine, back when I watched it. But I knew they never had a chance even though I felt that the two actors had fantastic chemistry. And also I knew it would never happen because of the pre-made relationship of GSR. The whole idea of them was pretty much decided at the beginning and not really based on chemistry between the actors. I always felt that GSR was a horrible idea because they seemed so flat together. I stopped watching it after last season's final, I just felt that the show had really gone down hill in the second half of season 6. But with a show thats getting older, and plus most of the good writing staff had left. I guess it's not that surprising, with the people that rooted for it most had left... And that finale really topped the cake off for me - Yes I will say GSR had a big hand in it for me. Having GSR didn't make sense...what I mean to say is the way they did it. I'd seen every single episode and the whole thing just seemed put together to just finally appease the fans and it seemed like they hadn't thought about the character's histories together at all. Like that episode had been written by someone who hadn't seen the Old CSI episodes. To have them suddenly there, w/o any explanation as to how it happened. And the whole thing was very contradictory to their character's attitudes.

lol until I read the last post I thought GSR was gunshot residue, lol. Then if figure out you ment the relationship of Gil and Sara, so does it mean gil sarah relationship? I don't like it either, just no chemistry between them. Now she is trapped under a car until she negotiates her new contract. I hope they write her off. I want more Nick and Greg.
Also what happen to Warrick's wife the doctor?
