Well something wierd is going on or I wasn't paying too much attention the last month or so. The Canadian channel started to show the same old ones as ABC on Saturdays and then as ABC has stopped showing Monk and I lost track with what the Cdn channel was showing. Last Saturday I saw "Mr. Monk Goes to Jail"; I also saw "Mr. Monk and the Missing Granny" and "Mr. Monk Gets Married" the two prior weekends. Could someone explain " Dale the Whale"? I don't recall the details from the first time except that it wasn't the fabulous Tim Curry. In addition, I thought the episode was over and I missed seeing what Dale said just before the credits rolled (You see, I have this nasty habit of flipping channels when the commercials come ). Anyone remember what he said after giving Adrian and Sharona the clue about the fellow in Manhattan? Thank you.

Dale the Whale was the bad guy in the episode where the judge was killed by someone very fat, but though Dale had motive, he also had the excuse that he was SO fat that he couldn't fit out of his bedroom door.
So, Sharona goes to work for his as his night nurse to find out if he really is a fat as he says. He is. Monk is very upset about Sharona being around Dale so much, and that is compounded by Dales insults and reminders of the horrible things he did to Monk and Trudy.
Trudy wrote an article about Dale, and he sued her for it. He practically bankrupted them with all the court costs, forcing them to sell their house. Dale bought the house and told Monk he uses it to store his por- no- graphy (if I spell it right, google will start sending ads for it.) He also says things about making Trudy cry, and this really pisses Monk off, and convinces him that Dale did it. In the end, Monk cracks the case and sends Dale to jail.
So, that's the backstory there. I actually fell asleep at the end of Mr. Monk Goes to Jail and didn't catch the rerun. I'll have to keep an eye out for the DVD set for sure.

What I thought was interesting was how the final shot of "Mr. Monk Goes to Jail" showed the airplane and Dale exclaiming "Bon voyage, Adrian Monk!" I thought Monk mentioned in "The Other WOman" how he was afraid of flying? Or maybe the chance to solve Trudy's murder is giving him strength and courage, which is sorta sweet in a MOnk way.

Thanks for the update ladies. It doesn't help that the episodes are being shown out of order. We get "Mr. Monk Goes to Mexico" and "Mr. Monk Meet the Playboy" next. Catbird, I'm sure he's getting the strength and courage from the knowledge that he's going to get justice for his beloved Trudy.

That is wierd, Nikki. Mr. Monk Goes to Jail was the season finale for us.
I think Mr. Monk Goes to Mexico is the best one this season, though, and Mr. Monk Gets Married is a very close second.

MONK is really good. I love the interaction between Tony Shalhoub and Bitty Schram. Their two characters really feed off one another, and totally make the show worth while.
Tony S is a top class actor, too.
MONK is great but Criminal Intent still rocks!! (nothing beats Goren with his head tilts, bends of the waist and nice suits)
Best Comedy Detective Show: MONK
Best Drama Detective Show: CRIMINAL INTENT
Cheers,
Boo Cunningnick (aka...the BoBster)

The next season (heaven knows what number it is!) starts June 18th on the USA Network in the U.S. And I've read reports that repeats will air on ABC during the summer.
USA is running some very funny commercials for MONK and THE DEAD ZONE with Tony Shalhoub and Anthony Michael Hall.

I believe this summers season is the 3rd season. It's hard to tell because of the way they aired the season, half at a time.
I also like those commercials with AMH and TS, "What a weirdo" ;D

I love MONK--it's the only other show that I specificly watch beside LOCI. MONK does have a difficult tightrope to walk in the line between Monk being funny and making fun of him. The show usually handles it well, and Tony Shalhoub always does, but there have been moments when the line has been crossed. And the mysteries have never been as good as the rest of the show, but the truth is I don't care about that.
Some of the MONK fans, however--well, perhaps some of them have OCD, and if so, I apologize for criticizing people with an illness. But I visit the MONK message boards, and some of the individuals who post there attack some of the (to me) silliest things. If you're a fan of MONK you'll probably remember one of the recent episodes concerned the fanatical fan of a CSI like show who was horribly upset about the show's changing its theme song. That was a direct (and funny, I thought) dig at people who were threatening boycotts over the fact MONK had changed its theme song. That, and other like things, has caused me to wonder about some people.
Not to pat us on our backs too much, but I've found LOCI fans to be fairly reasonable. We're obsessed, but not too crazy, and we seem to accept the limitations of the show.
I got my MONK Season 1 DVDs yesterday, and they're very nice.
