Blackadder is awesome. I thought I recongized HL from somewhere. Was he the milquetoast king?
Ok I admit I watched this week's episode and found myself laughing at the racial drug pushing he did with the black patient. It is extremely witty yet still compassionate writing. I'm still not a hundred percent cool with the sheer negative commentary he makes. I get shit like that all the time in real life. To House I say: so you're brilliant and you have a limp. GET OVER YOURSELF!
It's growing on me.

WOW! only 7.5 or 10mgs of codeine and a prescription is needed! In an episode Cuddy said that House takes 80mgs, I assume that means codeine. that is only 10 tablets, only 2 more than the recommended does in the UK (which is 8 tabs of 8/500), although that is quite a bit of paracetamol. It's 7.5mg of hydrocodone bitartrate (sp) which is a semi synthetic derivative of morphine and 750mg of acetaminphen.

GET OVER YOURSELF! It's growing on me. Glad to hear it. It's growing on me too. I'm sorry that you are on the receiving end of it in real life - as that could sure put a damper on the enjoyment of this show. I used to work for 5+ years at the IT department of a medical school, and we certainly had our "characters", but none so arrogant as Gregory House, thank the Goddess. While I do think he needs to get over himself, I also in a perverse sense love to watch someone who is so sure of himself, yet so emotionally stunted, who absolutely does not censor himself in front of other people. In that regard, he has a freedom I don't have, being a highly self-censoring and self-critical person, myself. HL has mentioned in interviews that he enjoys playing a character who is not bound by the oppressive weight of others' opinons. I feel the same way when I watch D'Onofrio play Goren, especially from seasons 1-2, when I step back in wonder sometimes at his frankness. I see a similar type of freedom of expression in Goren, although never to the same degree of meanness as House and mostly with more empathy. FYI HL was hilarious as Bertie Wooster in the Masterpiece Theatre series JEEVES AND WOOSTER alongside friend and creative partner Stephen Fry as Jeeves. D.

jeh-sus, mimi. there is more codeine (but less paracetamol) in the OTC medicine we can buy in the UK for £1.50! I hear on US TV shows about vicodin addiction but in the UK its more common to find addicts who have been prescribed the 30/500 preparation. perhaps i should keep an eye on my mother with her OTC co-codomol!

I LOVE this show! I started watching last season when it all started. I'd say that unlike Goren, House doesn't care what anyone thinks of him. He's smart, but he's an individual who's honest and unique.
Not that Goren isn't...but you get the point.
I already have the 1st season on DVD.
Hugh is AWESOME and should have gotten the EMMY!
Grrr...

Thanks for those links, Dom. HL and Jay Leno must really get along. HL is scheduled for his 3rd appearance of the year on "The Tonight Show" this Wednesday (November 16th).

Actually, I think House will be on at 11pm (EST) on USA Fridays, following CI, SVU and (starting the 13th) new episodes of Monk.
A full night of defective detectives, indeed!

I'm sad that I missed him winning... You may want to check your schedule for Bravo. I believe they'll be re-airing the show soon. It was nice seeing both of Stuart's parents win. ;D
